NISMO!

Seriously, sound is such a subjective thing, that you will get 100 answers. Also, exhaust, plenum, cats. etc. will have an impact on sound.

Hehe, i guess everyone has voted for the intake they have

Personally I all intakes would sound the same as long as they are "open", CAI's that are placed ahead of the radiator would most likely sound less from inside the car but more ahead of the car from the outside.

I tried driving my car without the filter, sound is amazing at high RPM's, really comes to life and screams LOUD at full throttle over say 4k RPM and peaks at redline! Now (before ive decided on which intake to buy) i ducktaped a BMC cone filter (from my BMW M3) after the AFM and it sounds pretty much exactly like with the filter removed completly.

I was quite unhappy with the stock engine sound at high RPM, it made me want to shift early and i wasent pleased at all with the whole experience in reving high, you could also feel the engine dropping power slightly over 5k RPM... BUT with the open filter the engine sounds and FEELS completly different at high RPMS, now instead of 5-6k rpm max shifts i always want to rev to the limter

Hehe no **** But just driving on "clean" tarmac for a few minutes just to try it out wont do any dammage unless you are extremly unlucky. Obiously driving without filter is nutz for anything but a short test, I just wanted to listen to how it sounded.

My current "ducktaped" conefilter setup is pretty much identical to a JWT Popcharger setup and it sounds great! But i am only "borrowing" the filter from my M3 until i get a propper intake.

Ditto,

My friends have Nismo and Pop-Chargers, but we all agree that my Typhoon sounds the best by far.

Just look on autotrader.com or any used car place and you should try to find a z that is less than 21k.(What i am basicly saying is that z hold up in their resale exspecially nice ones.

Basically i am asking you this question is to know who to revv at and who to not even bother with . Thanks for the advice and i hope this will help me win a few races here and there.

But thats besides the point i just want to actually be able to beat the Sti. What have you z owners out there done to get your car to the be a 13 second quarter mile range because i heard the sti runs 13.2 second. I'm actually hoping that i can beat him on the top speed becasue i am not really sure that an Sti can go 155 like my Z. The overall question is what mods do i put in my 05 track Z to beat an Sti without using forced induction? And how much would the mods cost?

I just love the new type s, but its really not in the same league as the z or the mazda. But, I have one question. Anyone of you z owners out there raced a rx-8 and how much did you beat it by, or did it beat you?

SQ40, does the Typhoon bolt on after the stock MAF or does it have a "socket" for it in the piping?
