So I got a Ceramic DC header and JWT popcharger...
The people at Street Image in SoCal told me this would totally change the way my car accelerates at the top-end. THEY WERE RIGHT.
After adding my first mod, hotchkis sport sway bars, a week ago, my car has totally made me believe in it's potential. My god! The handling characteristics went from a kind of annoying understeer feeling on the track to something that feels totally neutral, eliminating the understeer from the past. I can corner so much faster now.
And the new DC header I got installed today along with a JWT popcharger made my head explode. When I pulled out of the street image lot. I hit the pedal to the metal. The sound was a loud deep sound, like lions roaring at a million miles per second. It went from the rising stock
EEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR~~~ through the entire rev range to a new AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH~ *with a big deep screaming sound* as if someone let the devil enhance your car.
The top end power that I got out of the headers really amazed me. Even at 6k RPM, the power just kept coming and coming, unlike the stock that felt the power would drop after you reached 6k. It's really impressive. The sound is amazing with the stock exhausts. I plan to get Greddy EVO2 exhausts later, but right now, the sound is bliss. I really do feel like I'm driving a monster, teetering at the brink of insanity. I keep hearing the crawfords are the best. Well those were too expensive for me, so I went for Ceramic DCs, a step up from the imitation top speeds for the cheapest deal.
Now with the JWT popcharger, it added a whole other element. Now I drove my friends manual enthusiast 350z in the past, and man, I felt that his car could pull harder than my automatic touring 350z. His throttle response was instant because of the transmission, and the torque would just be summoned instantly, even at low rpms, unlike the automatic. One of the problems with the automatic transmission is that even in sport mode I would get a milisecond delay before the pedal would totally respond with the engine. The rpms would jump on the tachometer when I'd hit the pedal, then apply power after less than a second. It's very short, but still a delay. However, once I added the headers and the JWT popcharger, the throttle delay was cut in half (like almost nothing), and with the added headers, the car feels like it pulls harder than a stock manual in hp and torque. Really amazing. It's awesome, this JWT popcharger. It's like a hiss sound that rises in a crescendo to climax along with the loud revs coming from the new headers. And everytime at a high gear, when I hit the pedal, you'd hear a slight hiss, almost as if it's a Blow off valve, but on a NA car. Phew...
Well in a few days, I'll be getting Unorthodox pulleys and a skunk2 plenum (not sure if that was the right one...) But I'll update on that later.
anyways, happy trails Z'ers
