Default Reusing stock header gaskets

Hi,

I recently purchased the top speed headers from one of the members, but he forgot to include the gaskets... So, I was wondering if I could reuse the stock gaskets or somehow fabricate the gaskets... Thanks in advance...

Old header gaskets should work just fine.

They may work, and they may also leak!?!? Put in a new gasket...you are already going to be in there! Why take the risk of it leaking....trust me, put in a new gasket!

When you put some miles on the car the gaskets do take a pretty good hit....if you have ever changed and exhaust system out you would be able to see what I am talking about. Most of the gaskets I have seen almost crumble, and at least have major flaking when removed. I would not use the old gasket if the car has more than a couple thousand miles on it. Spend the extra cash and get a new gasket...they are not very expensive, and you are going to be sure of the seal.

i would just buy new ones and replace them. saves you from being carless if your old ones are done, and saves you from basically re instaling the headers if there is a leak!!!!

The OEM Gaskets are metal and wont crumble. It will take a lot to damage them. Again, if they don't look visibily damaged, you can safely use the old ones. I did, as well as a lot of others on this board.

stock ones are reusable especially if they dont have any rust markrs on them...

they arent that expensive though to replace while in there...

a metal gasket should be ok. i didn't know if they wer metal and assumed they were paper. like jason said as long as it doesn't have any rust or is tron damaged it should work. if they were paper, definately.

To give you an idea about price, I just purchased 4 new gaskets for headers.
