I have a Blue too so red CAI is out for me.
When you go to AEM's website it shows all of the 350Z Air Intakes in blue which means "available soon" according to their website.
If you look at their site for the Blue AEM CAI you will see a new awesome looking AEM CAI V2 (Version 2) that says "TBA, " or to be announced (as in availability date.)
This is obviously a wait and see thing. Why buy version 1 (still unavailable) when they are finishing version 2??
I quit beating myself over the head about this CAI debacle since no one is yelling how great the Injen is (and the color)and saved my 250 bucks. I went and bought a K&N for $42.00.
Look at your stock intake closely. It's pulling in mass amounts of cold air already! The box isn't *that* restrictive, like it normally is on other stock cars. Nissan did a good job! That's why it beats the Infinity G35!
The factory air filter IS restrictive, I compared both side by side.
The key to increasing performace in this already tweaked out car is going to be
1. ECU/Chip/Programmer
2. Removing restrictions (exhaust, air filter, etc)
3. Weight reduction
4. Better traction
5. Forced Induction (big bucks)
I removed restrictions on my exhaust, gave it more air via the K&N, removed the heavy stock rims, spare tire and other things, and put some Nitto's on there. Aside from an ECU or Turbo/Supercharger your not gonna get bang for the buck.
As soon as the track is reopened and the air is right I am going to get some time slips. I can't wait. The car is quick!!
I'm not slamming bolt ons I am just saying that waiting is always better. More data and lower prices!
Now I can save for my ECU since I decided on the K&N.
