Default just bought the pop charger..

i just bought a pop charger and UTR chrome Z tube from avalonracing.com for $240. The intake should arrive next week. I just hope i didnt make the wrong choice of buying that intake. Can someone who owns the pop charger tell me their opinions on the intake so it'll make me feel less worried. I was going to get the new injen Sp1986 but i was worried of hydrolocking and the difficulty of installing and cleaning the filter. Watever, i cant wait to install them and ill let u guys know my experiences and opinions ont the pop charger.

Default same boat...

i was in the same position as you. i didn't hear enough about the injen SP, and figured it would perform like most of the stuff out there. i bought the popcharger instead. For half the price, I'd say it's worth it. Plus, I've heard many testimonials about CAIs losing some low end power, which is what i feel the car needs most.

The only ***** about the install was securing the air duct to the heat shield...i used a combination of a small drill bit with my hand to start the holes and a phillips head bit on my ratchet to finally get one screw in. i felt that was enough...its not gonna move really, and some people don't put any in. between talking with friends and trying to find the right tools to make a hole in that air duct, it probably took me like 45 minutes.

as far as sound goes: awesome. my Z sounds about twice as loud and produces some crazy growls throughout the rpm range under WOT.

as far as performance goes: I'd say it feels a little more responsive, and I can tell you that if it's faster, its not by a sh*tload. For the $100 some odd price, you get great sound, better peformance and better gas mileage. Well worth it and good choice.

you'll read all over the board....JWT has been working on stuff like this for a long time, and every loves their popcharger. i didn't expect to get as much as i did collectively after installing the thing.

hope thats a convincing statement.

damn...just saw your sig...what town are you from? we can meet up and ill take you for a ride.

I do not have the pop charger, but will give you my opinion. It’s a proven performer at a reasonable price. Why argue against a “sure thing?”

3 more days!! until i recieve my pop charger..woot woot!

I have a questions:

To reset the ECU, i have to unplug both positive and negative batter?

After unpluging the battery and puttin them back on, do i still have to go to technosquare site and follow the ECU resetting procedures jus to make sure the ECU actually reseted? I dont feel like worrying about stallin in the highway when the i drop the gear in neutral.

Default Im A Believer!!!

WOW!!!..OK I JUST FINISHED INSTALLING THE POP CHARGER AND UTR CHROME INTAKE TUBE AND ITS AMAZING.. THE SOUND OF IT IS REMARKABLE AND IT GIVES THIS LITTLE TURBO WHISTLE..LOL THE ONLY HARD PART WITH THE INSTALL WAS HAVING TO ALLIGN THE HEATSHIELD AND KEEPING THE INTAKE STRAIGHT INSTEAD OF LOOKING CROOKED. i HAD TO BEND THAT METAL PIECE THAT CONNECTS TO THE FILTER. THE CAR FEELS A LIL MORE RESPONSIVE AND IM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS MOD. iT ALSO MAKES MY ENGINE BAY LOOK A LOT NICER. MY NEXT MOD MIGHT JUS BE A POLISHED PLENUM TO MATCH THE CHROME INTAKE.

Way to go Florendo... my girl is going to be pissed at me.
I've been debating on wether or not to buy the pop charger. So I followed your thread, now that I see that your results are pretty much similar to those who already have them, I'm going to have to get one. Damnit... hehe

I will purchase my popcharger soon after I finish off with my rims and spring...

but somehow feel excited about the popcharge now....IMO

I used to debating to myself whether get the popcharger or Injenz CAI...
The Injenz CAI look so cool at the engine bay and I thought the sound will be amazing since it is "Injenz"...lol

But I went thru many topic and found out the popcharger was actaully better... so I think I'll go w/ the JWT Popcharger...

Btw... seriously, how hard it is to install the popcharger??? Since I have no experiment at this kind of stuff before...

installing it is not to hard. The pop charger comes with directions and the pics are self explanatory. Jus remember that the stock air box has no screws on the bottom and it jus pops off and u jus got put some force into it. Make sure u dont drop the bolts and rings down the engine bay cause its a b*tch to get down there and find them.(lol i did it by accident) You may even have to straightin the brace that connects to the filter a little. You'll know wat im talkin about when u actually install urs. Jus pm me if u have any other questions. Im glad this post helped make ur descion on gettin the pop charger -=).

oh ye, after the install, i was expecting to get the CEL(check engine light) but i didnt get it. A lot of people that installed the the pop charger usually had the CEL go off but im not sure if that normal in my case. Im not sure if i should still do the resetting procedure in technosquare site or unplug battery for 20 mins cause i didnt get the CEL. Did anyone else encounter this? Need ur opinions.
