Well. Yeah. So? Much smaller engine, only 1 header, can be done without going underneath and having to disconnect stuff like steering racks, shields, etc.

Well sure. You can hold the engine under your left arm, and install the headers with your right hand.

just an fyi, i installed the Xerd long tube headers in my car, and with a parts run for some exhaust bolts, a lunch run, and a cigarette run, we completed it in just over 5 h ours...it took 2 and a half people and we used air tools as well. if youre mechanically inclined, then it shouldnt be more than 6-7 hours i would think...plus for the Xerds, we didnt have to disconnect the steering column, so im sure that saved about 10-20 min.

How did you not disconnect the steering column???? Inorder to get the heat shield out it would be almost impossible. Did you tin snip the heat shield of somthing... I wrestled the heat shield for a good 20 minutes. The steering column takes 5minutes or less to unhook.

Jvanquish----
You really can DIY.

I could do it in about 3-4 hours just because of experience from the first time. I did my header install alone in 7 hours with ZERO help. Just take off ALL the coolant lines to provide better access to the studs. Use a breaker bar to loosen up all the bolts. If you wanted to drive to Albany I would help you out.

not at all, my heat shields are still perfectly intact... you just have to wiggle them out...youre right in that there is 0 space, but with a lil persuasion, you can get them out.

oh, forgot to include that we were using an oil change bay...so that helped out alot...im sure doing it on jack stands and laying on your back all day would take a bit longer, and please do make sure like lukesynder said, use a breaker bar whenever you can. leverage is the key to breaking bolts =)

Yes. DC's IMO are one of the best built headers out there. Not just b/c I have them .. b/c I researched it and found they provide a great amount of torque in midrange. What finally prosuaded me was a header thread about 2 weeks ago when I saw how nice the collectors were on the DC's. The nicest out there.

actually, you know wat i thnk we did, i think we loosed up the AC compressor and dropped it down a bit to get it out...i think thats wat gave us enough space to wiggle the heatshield off...just a hint to those who are doing it at home...

can easily be done in 4-5 hrs at home. a shop should be able to do it in less. we did it at my house on jacks with power tools in 4 1/2 hrs. these were the xerd's btw
