Default Motordyne spacer install question

hey guys,

just wondering how much harder it is to install the motordyne iso-thermal spacer kit over the standard spacer kit. im going with the 5/8" spacer to keep my stock bar. also, do you think that the iso-thermal is worth the extra $50 or so. any input is greatly appreciated (and i have searched for this- couldnt find anything on this specifically).

thanks,

shahin

The Isothermal gasket actually goes under the standard spacer. That is, it mounts between the intake manifold and the lower plenum. The spacer goes between the lower and upper plenums.

Personally, I believe the gasket is definitely worth the $50. I did some measurements before and after installing the isothermal gasket and it lowers the plenum temperature about 25 to 30°. Without it, you can hardly rest your hand on the plenum but with the gasket the plenum is only warm to the touch.

I think it will be a real benefit for me during AutoX events where you run the car hard then it sits for a while before the next run. The heat soak back into the plenum allows it to warm the incoming air robbing power.

Beyond installation of a basic spacer, installation of the Aramid gasket will take an extra 45 minutes for the average person. It would take me about 20 extra minutes.

If you do it with the plenum spacer, the whole process will take about 1.5 hours.

Its not hard. Its mostly just 10mm bolts and a few hoses to undo and reinstall.

To get a better understanding of the process check out our installation manual on the motordyne website.

The manual explains everything.

just read the manual. I thought the 5/16 spacer w/ thermal gasket can retain stock strutbar w/o using strutbar spacers? the manual is asking to use the spacers.

Yes. You will need to use the STB spacers too.
