Default $1200 For Nismo Exhaust in Washington?

So I went to the dealer here in Bremerton today to see how much the Nismo Cat-Back exhaust would cost to have installed.

The parts guy told me that it would run $1200 before installation. Considering the pamphlet sitting next to him and the website lists a MSRP of $1100 this seemed a little high. He tried to push some other brand they had in stock which I declined.

Considering how unpleasant I find haggling while car shopping, I really didn't feel like doing it for parts. Is this normal?

I guess I'll start looking at local shops now.

call a few nissan dealerships and tell them another dealership told you $1100...they'll probably match it...that's what happened with mine...the guy said the price was going up, but i told him another dealership told me $1100 (which they actually did) and he matched it...also i think intense motorsports has it kinda cheap

Is it unusual that the parts guy hasn’t the faintest idea what it says in a pamphlet? No.

BTW I don’t think the NISMO exhaust is a cat-back system. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The Nismo is a cat-back. But $1200 is crazy with NO install. Check out Performance Nissan.

Is this an accurate photo of the NISMO exhaust? How do you get from the catalytic converters (2) “back?" What am I missing here?

Dave,
There is a piece missing in that picture. I remember my exhaust having 3 major parts to it. The two in that pic and one more.
You can try ebay to get a nismo exhaust. I got mine from ebay for less than $700 bucks and that was with overnight shipping to me.
It cost me another $130 bucks to have it installed.
Just shop around, Youll find a good deal on one sooner or later.

worth every goddamn penny.

btw....if you're smart, you'll save the few hundred someone will charge to install and do it yourself, and realize how easy it is.
list of what you need:
wd40
rhino ramps
creeper (not needed but good to have)
flathead screwdriver
14mm, 12mm, and 10mm sockets
small breaker bar or large
patience

everything else is easy and self explanatory

+1. Just installed mine a couple of days ago. Took maybe 2.5 hours total. A couple of extra pairs of hands would have been nice but its not an impossible job since it is basically a bolt-on job. It was actually harder to get the stock exhaust off than to put on the new system.

I Got my system as a Christmas present and I asure you the wife did not spend anywhere near what your dealer quoted. BTW, our local dealer quoted her nearly the same price as yours. She found it on-line for much, much less.

Tip on getting the ehaust off the rubber hangers: soak them with silicone spray; the cheap stuff for tires called "Wet 'N Black" works great. You get that stuff worked in good and they slide on and off like butter.

Damn, I want the Nismo exhuast BAD...

Bought mine from FlorendoCruz for $835.00 shipped (2-day shipping). Paid $50.00 to have it installed at a local muffler shop.

Why go with the nismo when you could get a borla TD for 750?

because the nismo is JDM hawtness and borla is definitely not, plus it keeps the stock tone, just makes it louder, and prolly has better build quality.
