Default Heat sheild

I know I will get reamed for not searching but I don't have hours to sift thru hundreds of intake threads. If you don't want to answer that's cool.

Is anybody using a Pop Charger without the heat sheild?

I know it would be better to use the heat sheild but the intake looks better without it IMO, especially with the polished tube. I didn't buy the Pop Charger for performance gains anyway, really.

I know there are people who run CA Injens as a short ram setup, so performance wise the pop Charger without a heat sheild shouldn't be any worse than an Injen short ram setup. Though I thought somebody once said they use 2 different types/styles of filter. The way they suck in the air is different?

The pop Charger filter is fairly close to the intake hole in the grill area and as long as the car is moving more than 15mph or so, it should be sucking up fairly cool air, at least compaired to an Injen short ram setup. The only time it would be sucking up warm air is at a standstill, in which case it shouldn't matter much.

So does anybody see any real great harm to using the Pop Charger without it's heat sheild?

I doubt there would be much harm, other than a possible loss of hp at slow speeds. I'm actually running an injen short ram w/ both the injen and the jwt heatshield. I do think the jwt filter is better due to the design which integrates filter element on the top of the filter and not just the sides. this is probably why the popcharger nearly always shows gains. so no, I don't think you'll have any problems running your popcharger w/o the shield, but you may lose a bit of low end power. could you let me know if the sucking sound the popcharger makes is louder or quieter? good luck
