Removing Stock Exhaust Bolts
I was just wondering if any has had to cut the bolts off their stock exhaust to get it out. My bolts are so rusted over and degraded that when I put a wrench to them they just went to moosh. Im thinking about taking a grinder and slicing them off so that I can remove my exhaust. Anyone have this experience???
how would slicing them off help any bit??? Try greasing them w/ wd40 a few times in a day and then try the next day. Also, try cooling them. Cold metal shrinks so you could be able to get it off a little easier.
yup, those bolts are a PITA. especially when your laying on the ground while reaching into the unknown and trying to gain leverage. all I can offer is more of the same advice. make sure everything is cooled down (maybe even spray some compressed air on the bolts for a bit), lube her up like its a ky-jelly party, and once you get your socket on their pull like your life depended on it (use a hammer to hit the end of the wrench if necessary). if all else fails you can either have a professional do it, in which case if it is really that bad they will probably just drill the bolts out or use a cutting torch. good luck.
Yea at least Im glad to hear others have found that their bolts are super f'ed up down there too. I will give it some good lube and if that doesnt work get out the titanium drill bits or the grinder and just cut those bad boys off.

OH ic, u'd drill them out :-D Yah..they're on SUPER tight on my car and its not even rusted. It took a 12 inch wrench w/ a 18 inch wrench attacked to it for torque, along with 100% effort from me, and i'm a big guy.
Exhaust bolts should really be removed with an impact gun. If you can't borrow one bring it to a shop and ask them to break the nuts loose with an impact gun. Then have them tightern them slightly with hand tools so the exhaust doesn't fall off on your ride home.
go to pep boys or where ever you buy parts and get some of this

best rust penatrant. period. soak the nuts for a minute or two then break them loose. air tools or a breaker bar will help tremendously.
good luck!!!
