Default 5Zigen Miracle Exhaust - pics and vids

Here are pics of my new 5Zigen Miracle exhaust I picked up from www.splparts.com . Very lightweight for having dual mufflers-only 23.5lbs. This is only about 2 pounds more than the ProRacer A-Spec single exit exhaust I was running previously. The Miracle uses slip joints instead of the heavy regular flanges and even has hollow hangers. The welds on this thing are impeccable. Comes with silencers which I really like. I keep them in for street driving and remove them at the road course, drag strip or drift event. The versatility is nice as I'm getting tired of running loud exhausts all the time. Tame enough for daily driving with the silencers in and sounds amazing wound out with them removed. I'll add a few vids so you guys can get an idea of what it sounds like. This is all with Crawford headers, resonated test pipes, y-pipe and the Miracle y-pipe back. Silencers are removed in the videos. This exhaust obviously flows very well as a few weeks ago at the strip I ran three 12.9's@106.xmph and a 13.0 in the quarter mile All Motor!

Thanks! With the silencers out it's much louder but I think it sounds great. It's too loud for street driving as it drones at lower rpm's, but it screams in the upper rpm's. It's not so loud though that I can't communicate with an instructor on a road course. I'm pretty happy with the combo i'm running right now. Only takes a couple minutes to pop the silencers in and out so I can enjoy the drive to and from the track and have it scream while i'm there.

Not sure the exact diameter but I think it's slightly less than 3 inches. I'll have to measure it to be sure or maybe Kuah at SPL knows.

Wasn't the 5Zigen dyno'd at a sports Z magazine to have no Torque gains and a loss of 3 HP?

EDIT: changed TQ to HP

Interesting. I knew about the article but had never read it. I wish it said which model exactly was used in the test to know for sure if it was the Miracle they were testing. Seems they let out a bit earlier than the others in the dyno, but didn't appear to be peaking more than stock anyway when looking at the graph. I checked SportZMagazine.com and the don't have the movie file showing which exhaust is used, just the sound file. Either way my 1/4 mile times speak for themselves and I'm happy with it so far.

I do plan to swap the ProRacer A-Speck back in and see how it performes with the APS plenum and see which combo works best. If I can get another cool night at the racetrack I should have a pretty fair comparison. Too bad they haven't produced the A-Spec for the US market yet as I think I still have the only US prototype. If it turns out to be faster I may get a generic silencer to fit the A-Spec as it was a bit loud for my liking. My exhaust combinations on this car never seem to end!

Those are some sick times, Stock headers, cats, and y-pipe i'm assuming(nothing in your sig)? Reminds me of the Topspeed Pro-1 Exhaust in terms of design and in some ways sound.

Assuming you read his sig closer next time you would see he has Crawford headers

Damn, those drag runs are quick. Sounds good, but loud.

I have ebay resonated test pipes and an ebay y-pipe. I think the brand was t-pros. Didn't think they were worthy of mention in the sig. I used to have straight test pipes but they were just too damn loud. I also had cracked the straight pipes and fujitsubo y pipe I had previously due to some jerry rigged exhaust hangers that were on the car when I purchased it. I have since installed stock exhaust mounts/hangers and haven't had any problems so far.

I used to have the topspeed pro-1 when I first bought the car-previous owner had put it on. It was louder than both 5Zigen exhausts I've tried and pretty heavy, although the pipe diameter was quite large so it should flow well if you can handle the noise.

A little more detailed history of what happenned with the car when I first purchased it last year can be found here: http://www.splparts.com/About/SeanZ33/default.htm

Since my 12.98 last year, the mods/changes I have now include the resonated test pipes instead of the straight pipes, ebay y pipe instead of fujitsubo, stock throttle body instead of the 350EVO ported one, APS Tallboy intake instead of crawford and 5Zigen Miracle exhaust instead of the 5zigen ProRacer A-Spec. So even with the added restrictions of the resonators and the smaller throttle body I was able to shave a slight bit off of last years times with the addition of the APS plenum and the new exhaust. Like I mentioned before I want to run it a few times with the old exhaust on just for comparison and to get an idea of whether the gains I have seen are attributed to the Miracle Exhaust or the APS plenum.

Nope, ebay resonated test pipes. I haven't done any A/F tuning. The car has a reflashed ecu, but I have no idea what the specs are. All I know is I can rev it to 7200 so I know it's been reflashed by the previous owner.
