Default Custom 3" exhaust

The car is going in tomorrow to get some custom work done with the exhuast. Still staying with the APS test pipes(2.5"), but the rest will be 3" straight back into the GReddy EVO2 cans(not the evo2 mufflers).

I gotta say running no exhaust for a day is cool, but it definately gets annoying and kinda irritating.

I will update tomorrow with pics of the current(no exhaust) setup and with the newly completed set-up.

Current exhaust:

So this will be a true dual system when done? I'm confused by the pic above.

yeah it is a true dual. i got the car back and it looks awesome, but unfortunately the Greddy canisters are 1 3/4" on the inside so it makes this horrible raspy noise. Magnaflows are on order and should be here soon.

i'll post pics of what it looks likes now later today

so the picture from post #1 ... the left = stock and the right = ur new exhaust?

cuz the right exhaust has Y-pipe thus NOT true dual...
true dual = no Y pipe but separate piping from the "cats" down to the muffler...

Actually the exhaust on the right is the Greddy Evo2 which is a true dual exhaust. That is not a Y pipe, it is an X pipe. Lots of mustang guys run the X piped exhausts because they provide nice hp gains with minimal tq loss due to the crossover creating some necesary back pressure. Works the same way on the Z, I have it and I love it.

Now lets see that custom exhaust

X-pipe? are you sure? IMO its more of a y pipe and splits off into two, similar to the SFR design (Borla Y-pipe) What really constitutes a "true dual" setup anyway?

Looks like greddy modified this exhaust. Looks like they tappered the X-pipe and lengthened it. I would guess they did this so the resonators weren't possitioned right above the body brace.

Compare the pic above with my greddy setup:

Also looks like they include full hose replacments now as well as coupler other subtle changes. Interesting because I have heard newer clips of this exhaust and it does sound a bit different from what I was hearing on my car.

well these are the pictures i snapped just now

unfortunately they didnt come out as good as hoped, but its hard when the car is so low.

I jsut ordered some magnaflow mufflers to replace those greddy cans. next week i should be having an x-pipe fabbed up. like i said before the x-pipe will help to even flow and the mufflers have 3" pipe cores as opposed to the 1 3/4" pipe cores in the greddy mufflers

FYI, the exhaust in this thread was off a G35 and thus needs to be longer vs the Z and the reason for the extension of the X-pipe section
