The 300hp stock lower plenum has the shorter runners, not the 287hp. If you want to see a worked over lower plenum, here is Doug's. He polished the **** out of the top and gained 1hp if that.

The crawford manifold is a lot less than the MREV as well. I've searched and saw some dynos but nobody has really experienced both. Thanks

Hi Arin,

Why not try both on the dyno/street to see which will work best for you?

I have a cast plenum and MREV+ you can evaluate (no charge) for comparative testing if you like.

I dont think so. There did not seem to be any point. You can port the runners, but the entrance hole to the heads is still going to be the same size.

Did u just put the 287 plenum or the MREV+ ? I don't think if you can really compare a 287 plenum on a 298 motor with the one ported by MD..

Please explain why? The ported might help, but it will be so slim it probably wont even be noticed.

MREV all the way. I love my Crawford plenum on my 287hp motor, but that Crawford dyno posted should seal the deal for anybody with 1/2 a brain. The MREV have been independently tested at 15whp 20ft/lbs midrange, a few peak up top. An MREV equipped Revup vs a Crawford car the MREV would win hands down. I have installed 2 MREV's for local guys in the past 2 weeks the midrange is incredible, and the spacer keeps the top end lost by going to the smaller volumed lower plenum-also very easy to install about 1 hour. Remember guys-its the area under the peak that counts the most But what do I know, my Z is slow...

I would probably go with the crawford plenum after looking at your chart. Although the MREV does gain alot of power in mid-range, it looks like you hit a wall once it gets in to the high RPM powerband. I like the fact the Crawford plenum lost nothing down low, and only gained up top.

There has to be a middle-ground somewhere between these two.
But you will be slower than all the MREV guys. Remember the mid range power gain is so substantial that it will easily overcome a high rev engine. Why do you think Hondas are so slow. There power is only up high! Midrange power is what wins races.

2nd one is the better one. You really don't lose that much power up high at all. I had Stillen CAI, and MREV not the Plus yet, and 19" wheels with a full tank of gas when I did this.

Green = Crawford headers, highflow cats, plenum, JWT intake, and borla exhaust
Red = Same as Green but swapped stock 300hp lower plenum for the 287hp lower plenum(so basiclly MREV with plenum instead of spacer)
Blue = Same as Red, but added Crawford Throttle body

From your chart, having the Crawford Plenum hurt your #'s w/ the MREV. Have you tried taking it off and use the MREV Spacer to see what #'s you'd produce?

I still don't understand what's the difference between the Mrev & Mrev+.

The 5/16 mrev comes with some spacers for the strut bar does that affect handelling or can you not even tell?

I know it can seem biased coming from the manufaturer but the strut bar spacers don't affect handling. The strut bar spacers are purpose built for the application. Solid 6061 T6511 Kaiser aluminum.

Once they are bolted down its completely ridgid.
