Default DIY for plenum spacer

i'm getting a hold of a plenum spacer from MD and was wonering if anyone had any do it yourself information on installing this piece. Or if anyone has installed this on their car, would this be an easy install or am i going to need special tools or do anything to the car before its installed? thanks for any input

No special tools needed...should be instructions with it...follow them and everything will be smooth flowing.

Cool

The instructions were excellent for the install, I had no problems. However, those who say you need no special tools are not telling the whole story. It is strongly recommended that you have a torque wrench capable of low in-lbs readings. You can get by with a regular socket and a drive handle (not a ratched) but I'd not recommend it. The biggest problems with the spacer installs have been related to torquing the bolts - too loose means air leaks, and too tight can mean a cracked or broken plenum. Either buy a cheap torque wrench from Sears etc. or see if you can rent one for a few hours. Wait until you have the instructions - they will explain everything.

PS - Don't be so sensitive. The RTFM comment probably wasn't meant as an insult, but really - rather than repeat everything in the manual in a post here, it is far better to read it first then ask questions.

thanks man but i am kind of thick skinned...if you notice i was laughing when that guy said read the fuking manual. But hey thanks again, i will try and borrow a torque wrench from someone and see how it goes. I was mainly wondering if anyone had done the install themselves and had some disaster or something thats what i really wanted to get at. reading the manuel is one thing but going throguh the job and having something go wrong is what i'm looking to avoid

The only problem I had with my install was that I dropped the damn socket and it fell all the way to the cover at the bottom of the motor...took me 20 damn mins to get it out lol

Be sure not to tighten any of the bolts in the bottom plenum and allow them to go into the cylinders.
