Exhaust mods and inspection..
I am going for inspection in a month and I wonder if I should get test pipes and Y pipes before hand. I have some money and would love to start on the other end of the air flow system, but I've never really done any mods like that before so I'm a fish out of water. Would I/you get in trouble for those mods? And if so, what is the penalty? Do you put in the old parts before inspection? Thanks!

Laws vary from state to state so a regional forum may have the best answer.
With test pipes you will not pass a sniffer test.
Test pipes will not pass a visual inspection.
If test pipes give you SES light, those codes are recorded in OBDII history. A OBDII plug-in will show the codes, and alert the inspector to dig a bit deeper for emission problems.
My advise is to complete the inspection stock.
