When using FI it helps, I have a Big Bore throttle body with a custom plate and bored out Intake manifold on my S40 and notice a difference on the butt dyno. You do need to have all of your other rescrictions from Piping right on through upgraded as well.

I got a gasket for a new Q45 throttle body but sadly it was only around 73 mm I also checked a Titan just a little larger then ours we need something bigger we are in the process of actually building one from scratch hopefully we will no something in a month

are you making something that is DBW compatable? Otherwise getting a cable TB isnt that hard.

What kind of performance gains would a different throttle body add?

probably little to none. You would need a bigger opening on the intake manifold when jumping from 75 to 90 mm. It would probably add throttle response, but it really helps FI cars.

Seems like the SSV would be the easiest to modify to accept a new TB. You could just remove the elbow that the TB mounts to, have a larger dia. one bent and the reweld it onto the manifold. Then all that would be left to do is to repolish it. Maybe a couple hundred bucks and you could do it with the SSV. Plus the cost of the TB and making it work of course.

The SSV is actually what made me think about it because you could prolly get Kinitix to send you a unfinished manifold un polished and without the elbow. Again this would more than likely only be good for FI after doing research. However it could be maybe be useful in a very selective event where speeds are maintained and extremely high direct airflow such as a vent can be established for the intake. Low end would be horrible though.

I would consider another manifold before using the SSV. Unless you are shooting for looks mainly.

I said the SSV because it would be the easiest to modify to make the air inlet opening larger for a larger bore TB.

BTW, I have the SSV and I get more comments on it than any other piece on the car! Its awesome! If you plan on staying N/A, I would not get this manifold, but if you are planning on going F/I and want the looks, this is the piece for you.

i dont know where all the bad press for the ssv comes from.. i had a stock plenum and on the 1 mile straight on my road (country road) i could only muster 119 mph in that stretch. with the v+ plenum i got up to 128 on that strech. and with the ssv i have gotton to 132. so there are definate gains there. whether or not they show on a dyno (which i feel they are highly over rated except for tuning) i dont know. but real world performance its definatly there with the ssv. all of the passes i made are with the exact same mods except for the plenum (jwt popcharger and short throw shifter. thats it)


sorry for the hijack just wanted to share my thoughts and experiances with the ssv
