Larger Throttle Body from another Nissan?
I am just doing some research on things and I was wondering what problems you would run into using another throttle body that is larger from say a Q45. Aside from having to use a piggy back or something for fuel what problems would you run into. This is also assuming that the intake manifold and air intake are also larger to accomodate more airflow.
Would throttle response be lessoned?
Would you still be able to use the larger diameter piping and the stock MAF sensor as you do on the Injen and K&N intakes and just use the EMU to accomodate for the MAF not reading the accurate voltage due to diameter?

I looked at my FX 45 (03) the throttle body is the same as my Z. The part # on it is the same. I thought mine was bad so instead of buying 1 I was going to switch them. The only difference I saw was a spacer between the throttle body and the intake manifold. I hope this helps you.

What about something from like an armada or titan. I know that these have a bit bigger bore. I am looking at getting bigger than a bored out TB so I would have to upgrade to a different vehicles TB. Also will velocity or anything be affected by the large TB?

I believe Crawford mentioned something in another thread about wanting to try the TB from Q45 but they needed to actually get one.

That is actually what inspired this thread is their post. I looked at the Nissan website and it seems that most of their vehicles come with the drive by wire throttle body like the Z so with the exception of having to prolly splice the wires and trick the stock MAF I really dont see that many other problems. hopefully someone like Sharif or Charles gives some input.

Just doing some research and here is what I have found.
First off the Nissan Titan believe it or not basically has the same size throttle body as our Z (70mm). There is one that I found that they bored out to 75mm which would be nice. However, I also read that the problem that people were having with bored out TB's from companies such as Proflow and 350evo is that the TPS (throttle positioning system) does not work as well. Can anyone elaborate on how this is affected and how the TPS would be affected with a larger TB?
Also, someone stated that the Q45 (VK45 engine?) used a 90mm TB in another thread. This would be really nice. Can anyone confirm the TB size.
Also, addressing the TPS, could a unit such as the UTEC take care of this issue through idle adjustment or something else?

Just reading a bit more. I dont thing that a Q45 TB is drive by wire and another problem is that NA just wont benefit because you lose air velocity and therefore may not flow as much air based on vaccuum. However with a ram air intake you could flow more I am sure. You would just sacrafice performance at lower speeds and if you didnt have air ducted into the intake to increase air velocity to maximize flow.

Don't know about newer model Q45's but the older models do use 90mm throttle bodies but aren't DBW. Supra guys, at one point, were switching over to these with much success but that's a different breed compared to NA. Good luck..
