Default Please help narrow down exhaust search...

I've spent the last two hours tracking down sound clips, looking up manufacturers... and now I'm thoroughly confused. Can you guys help me narrow down my exhaust search? There's not a lot of Z's here for me to hear in person. I'm running a stock setup to stay in the Stock class for Autocross. Here are some preferences...

1) Volume - pleasant, subtle note at cruising... a beast when I "get on it" (cruising comfort more important)
2) Sound - a nice exotic (Ferrari'ish) sound.
3) Look - Not overly important. Stock look is fine, no one will be looking under my car for polished pipes.
4) Performance - MUST be better than stock, for now, and future upgrades.
5) Single vs. Dual - don't care unless it impacts other preferences.
6) Price - Less is always better. Didn't want to spend more than $1000 USD... but if there's something higher priced that you think would fit the bill, please feel free to throw it out there..

Much appreciated,

Joe

Borla was one that came to my attention... At Mossy it's $679 for single and $750 for true dual.

Is there an advantage to true dual? It looks like it'd be more weight with the extra piping.

its kina cheaper here. I dont think there will be a huge weight differece. I know stock weighs alot.

Im looking for an exhuast too, and im limited to under 1k aslo. I was looking at Nismo, borla, new Injen, maybe stillen (its a little over 1k)

For all those i must say i think the Injen will be the best since its will be true dual with H pipe, and titanium tips, and at around 800-900 (from what i hear).

The Nismo is my second choice becuase i love the sound of a stock Z. And nismo is just a little louder. Add test-pipes and it sounds sexy.

Borla is the cheapest true dual out there and sounds pretty nice. People complain that tehre are so many pieces to it tho.

Stillen is my last choice. Its true dual but i think its heavier than stock. Sounds pretty nice tho.

If I were you I would wait for the new Injen and alteast see it before you but a new exhaust. I heard good things about it. Supposedly its 2.45 piping which is perfect if you want to stay NA.

JSC Speed in PA is where I got my TD from... back in feb. it was $735 shipped... if they have some in stock i'm sure they will hook you up. fast shipping and arrived perfectly, i absolutely love the exhaust. There are many pieces to it, it was rated a harder one to install yourself. There was an exhaust shootout that sport z magazine did i believe back in the fall, if you do some searching or asking around someone might still have it, but borla was rated 3rd best as far as power and weight goes, i think hks was 1, but nismo was 4. If you want something subtle with good gains borla td is the best way to go, if you want ultimate power and weight loss but an aggressive sound go with hks. hks is also probably the most expensive.

I know JSC Speed does price matching, it would be worth the extra time to ask if they would match that price from Import Nation, i'm sure you would have to include shipping in the total price though. Still might be worth it for the borla TD.

Tanabe Medalion Touring, it's new, it sounds great, no one has it yet, you will love it. I've heard it in person. Their website has sound clips (G35c though).

I got Stillens Silver Series cat back exhaust. Sounds amazing. It's a Y pipe exhaust like the NISMO only with a deeper more pronounced tone.
