Default Intake Temp Sensor Question

I have a GReddy infometer that plugs into the OBD port and I have a sensor question...

Where does the intake temp sensor read from. Dose it read from the mass airflow sensor or somewhere upstream? Maybe at the thottle body?

I just got done doing some intake insulation for my K&N Typhoon and I am still getting 10+degree increases in intake temps. This makes me think the sensor is upstream for the mass airflow.

Any ideas?

That is the temperature at the MAF sensor.

The sensor for the ambient temperature (the one you see on the display in the car) is mounted in the opening for the hood latch in front of the radiator.

Everything warms up as a result of the engine heat. That includes the tube, MAF sensor, etc.

I have an OBDII monitor on my Z too. I did some experimentation a while back and saw that the MAF temp ranged from +5 to +50 degrees higher than ambient. It was only +5 at highway speeds, the +50 was in stop-and-go traffic.
