Drilled hole in throttle plate! UH OH!!! =(
Ok so I have a low idle and I read on this forum somone had put a 1/8 hole in the trottlebody plate, well i tried it and soon after I started it up and the idle went higher but when i went to drive it i could tell it was freaking out and the rpms would not go over 2000 rpm and the service engine soon light came on along with my slip light. I relize there is a problem and after messing with it more I notice it will rev to like 2000 but between 2000 and 3000 the car just bogs down. But after that It will rev up so im thinkin i jacked up my drive by wire throttlebody ? any info would be great fellas thanks.

ya, try the throttle relearn procedure. that is prolly the prob. works perfectly on my car. it accomplishes the same exact thing the jwt idle stabilization kit, and even is a little smaller hole, but the jwt kit will not work on blow through maf turbo set ups like the greddy and many others, as it would be drawing in unmetered air. drilling the hole in the throttle plate will make it so you get more metered air into the motor., hence your idle will go up. if you want it to go higher, make a bigger hole, simple as that. i started with 1/8", and got it to roughly 925rpm instantly and has worked perfectly on my car.

dude.. that sucks... you shouldn't have drilled anything.. On my other car, I took the entire throttle body out and cleaned it with a throttle body cleaner. there's a tiny valve (not the tubing) that gets dirty with grease. I had the low idle prob and it actually bumped it up a lot higher than normal at first.. then went back to normal with a drive around the block.

the throttle plate is brass so if worse comes to worse, it can easily be braised solid again. thats why i had no problem doing it, i did mine like 6-7 months ago and it has run perfect ever since the second i put the throttle body back on. but true, i do have cams too.

OK! so i already closed the hole thought that could be jackin it up but It was a combination of a few things the flap was rubbing very slightly on the tb and the drivebywire was freaking out so I fixed that then found a post about the learning thing did that and now it runs fine. I went and cleared the codes and they havnt come back =) But now im thinking that if i had the hole it woulda helped the idle I just didnt do it right... im wondering if i should open up that hole again and give it a try.
