I love ghetto mods.

One small hole can save you a trip to the dealer to raise RPM at idle lol...

dealer would not raise the idle on my car, alot of them won't. they said they didn't even know how to do it. not really considered a ghetto mod if it saves ya $500 from technosquare and does the same thing.

i prefer to call it an educated mod to get away from people soaking ya for dough, lol

I dont have a clue how you are going to fix that. This car has problems with parts as it is. Your ecu must be going nuts lol. My solution would to try to get a different butterfly plate from companys that rebore the original ones. Im sure they would have the factopry piece, because after all they change it. Ask Doug at crawford Z what you can do.

Best of luck Glen

I have a 2005 z so the dealer cant change the idle. So many people freak out when people like me try things like this... if you have ever been into any cars like 300zx tt's ect ect. there are so many tricks and tips around because of people like me. I am aware that i could cause damage to my tb. THere are tb's on ebay for 25 bucks.... all the time. I have done this before on tb's when i turbo non turbo cars and it has worked fine... But wasnt shure with the drive by wire. Its not cheap sending the ecu to ts. to have the idle higher. I have just been clicking my ac or heat on and it bumps the idle up high enough that it never dies. I am also at 5700 feet. there is less air up here. Im going to open her hole back up tomarow and give her some air and see what happens.

Do you guys know you can raise your idle by 110rpm's via the Cipher tool? Much better solution if thats all you need to raise it....

I've already paid for the TS flash and had the idle raised, but since the FCON my idle goes between good to bad depending on my driving conditions.

Is there anywhere in particular that you drill the hole?

the only thing that is being simulated is more metered air into the motor. thats all the ecu is trying to calculate for. the ecu just thinks the throttle is opened to about 1-2%.

under what conditions is your idle bad? hard braking? just getting out of boost? fluctuate while at a rest with foot on brake?

the best part about this mod is that it still allows the ecu to control the idle. if anyone has taken the throttle motor apart and inspected how it works, there is about a 10 degree area outside of the normal dbw that is supposed to control idle. it is nearly impossible to bump the idle by manually controlling the throttle plate. the only way is to trick the ecu. letting more air into the motor accomplishes this.

thanks benitoz, for proving my point on your car. glad to see it is working good for you now.

when hard braking and clutch is depressed quickly just before breaking (car stalls). If I hit the brakes with the car in gear it won't stall, but when I come to a stop it jump from 500 to 1500 and back to 500 rpms. If I blip the throttle a couple of times it catches it self and stays at 800-900 rpms. It also jump at idle with the a/c on. As soon as I turn it off it stabilizes again.

Where on the plate did you drill the hole ? Out side edge ? middle ?
