I have been told by a friend that buying a used exhaust system is not a great idea, I am wondering if he knows what he is talking about. He said something along the lines of a used exhaust system won't perform nearly as well because it is 'used' to the previous car.. true?
I hope he doesn't have the same theory for girlfriends!
The ECU has to adapt to less back pressure. The old exhaust has nothing to do with it. Save yourself some money and buy it used if you can.

yo just remember this.... exhausts dont last for ever.... if they did the companies who built them would go out of buinsness..... dont buy something thats a few year old... if ur buying used buy something thats 1/2 year old max
Exhaust has no moving parts so you are pretty safe. Gaskets, nuts and bolts are inexpensive.
What will be a headache is missing hardware such as unique hangers. Fabricating hangers can be a pain in the butt.
