So I have seen tons of proof that the popcharger is better than the CAI's out there, but I just dont understand why.

Why should hot air be better than cold? I know that air velocity has a lot to do with it, and the shorter the velocity route the better top end hp. (Atleast with manifolds like the plenum)

Is there anyway around this?

What about a CAI that has larger diameter piping and a bigger filter to change the velocity?

Theres gotta be someway to do this...

 

 

there should be blood coming out of that horse!!! go with whatever you like, seriously. intakes don't differ that much in the amount of HP they give you, go with price, looks, or ease of cleaning. the HP won't differ much.

 

Heres my thoughts since I am about to go clean mine up a little bit The Popcharger uses the stock intake tube which is made out of plastic, but all the CAI's well most of them have metal tubes. At startup they may be "cold" but once you drive around those metal pipes heat up alot, thus heating the air charge going into the engine, but the stock plastic tube doesnt absorb so much heat. The CAI's position of the filter may give it cooler air than the Popcharger but that difference may be negated when combined with the hot tube. So in other words theyre all about the same Im gonna go play with the car now.

If its been beaten to death tell me smart guy, the answer to my question (which you didnt even read) Why does the popcharger produce much better results than a CAI? Give me your scienfitic explanation and not a "well the pipe is plastic."

I really dont feel like running a system that has hotter air than stock, thats just plain stupid, but the cai sucks.
Theres people working on innovations for the plenum, why not intake?

No im not a smart guy, it’s called a search button. I don’t think it’s been proven that a pop charger produces better results, especially when the power is so minimal (that is the argument that has been beat to death). I got it because its cheap 109vs.250+ easy to clean and seems to have the same results as all the rest.

 

Awhile ago, the Popcharger in a shootout dyno'd 6.5rwhp, which beat out all other intakes it was tested against (I think AEM and Nismo?).

i think the long tube is too restrictive, air-volume-wise.

 

It's harder to suck air through a long tube compared to a short tube.

The stock air box is already a "CAI."

The JWT might be able to flow a little better, but it is not a CAI.

My $0.02 is keep the stock air box, that is my plan.

Its called a search button, pop charger gains much better high end power, which usually cant be seen on a dyno, look at the thread I posted. The guy trapped 3mph just by changing out the cai to a short ram.
