I have a crawford plenum which I already stripped off the black paint from. I was thinking polisihing the outside of my plenum also & then clearcoating it, but I think I'm gonna end up powdercoating it instead. I wouldn't worry too much about oxidation. Unless it's made from iron or steel, you won't have to worry about rust or anything like that.

I've see folks a few posts about guys doing it, but also saying it takes a lot of time and that they wouldn't recommend doing it yourself (just not worth the time/effort). they said your better off just buying a polished one or taking it to a machine shop.
