Default Taking the plunge with Injen

Had an oppourtunity to look at, hear and drive a 350z with the Injen SES installed, very impressive! A little louder than I thought but all in all not bad.
So I have decided to go with that. I also had the chance to have the Injen CAI installed in my car and drove it around for a while yesterday. I know there are a TON of posts on CAI's really not adding much, and which is better..... not like in my 2003 G35 sedan the CAI added a LOT!! this didnt seem like it added a lot of HP, but the car felt way more responsive. Was wondering if anyone else had Injen/Injen?
I'll post Pictures when it is all done.......

Forgot to add: Thanx to HyperSprite for his insight and advice, you were on the $$ the tips are a little uneven no biggie though

Any other mods planned, headers, test pipes, cats, plenum, engine management, etc?

Thinking about the Plenum rather than the spacer and an ECU flash. I dont want to go with Headers or test pipes/Cats till i decide on staying NA or going FI.

The Injen CAI will perform similar to the K&N Typhoon Air Intake. I think will will be pleased with the intake - exhaust performance.

I think any time you hear the motor doing something it seems more responsive than when it does it is silence.

As much as I hate the design of the Injen exhaust, I love the Injen intake. I can't believe they come from the same place. I have had mine on for more than 25k miles, even though the rainy season, and have had no issues what so ever. I do avoid puddles deeper than a few inches like the plague though.

Don't worry about it. Members are vocal about how the Injen Super SES Cat-Back Exhaust System sucks
or how the Kinetix High Flow Catalytic Converters sucks
or how the Alphawerks Stainless Steel Headers sucks

Then I post recent time slips and the critics shut up and go away.

After driving it around all day, it just keeps getting better and better. The exhaust has settled and sounds NICE.....I can't speak for any other set up (Borla/K&N, Stillen, ETC) but this has exceeded my expectations

Your time slips done mean much to someone who does not live his life a quarter mile at a time. It's only one measurement of performance and for the most part I think you could get the same times with just your tires and practice. If drag is your primary goal, by all means build for it but I don't think the Injen SES is doing you any favors. If you want to feel a cheep boost of mid range power, try putting your stock system on now that you are used to the Injen.

My Z has three primary uses, commute driving, mountain driving and long distance driving and a secondary use of autocross. So drivability and livability are higher on the importance scale than 2 hp here or there at absolute peak.

The torque loss the Injen exhibited on my car made mountain driving less the enjoyable because of the need for more frequent down shifts just maintain speed up hills. Daily driving on freeways that move at speeds around fifty mph, when I'm lucky, required extra rowing as well, compared to the stock system.

The drone was annoying on daily and long distance, but it was also frustrating because of how much quieter it would be at 5500 rpm.

The final straw was a response from Injen saying "They (exhaust) need the right combination of free flow with the right amount of restrictions" among other things that were complete BS. I have it all here if anyone cares http://www.hypersprite.com/auto/pict...d002/injen.asp

As for the system I sold, the buyer got the system for a great price and could easily sell it for what he paid for it if he is unhappy. I would even uninstall it for him and put another system on for free if he wanted.

It still comes down to personal choice and if you like something, that is all that matters, it's your car.

im not gonna argue with you about injen, since i never had it. I noticed no torque loss on my TD APS 2.5' system, and i felt a huge power loss when i put stock on. I dont appreciate power below 2k rpm cuz im never in that range.
