MAF question
If your MAF dies and you have the ENTIRE unit replaced, is it normal for it throw codes until you reprogram the ECM w/ the proper #? I'm curious because a friend of mine's MAF died, he had it replaced, SES light came on, he brought it to the dealership and they told him that it was throwing bad MAF/MAS(?) sensors and he had to pay $1500 to replace the entire unit (again! implying his new unit was broken I guess)
I think they just have to reprogram it for the new MAF, not replace the entire MAF again and that they're trying to rape him, right?

i have heard they will do this if you dont disconnect the battery before disconnecting the maf connector. try disconnecting the neg battery cable at the battery for an hour or so.
