Question Borla TD on a 2006

Are you sure the Borla will fit a 2006?

I just replaced a stolen 2003 with a Borla TD cat back and Vortech SC with a 2006 Z.

Even before taking delivery of my new car I contacted Borla and asked if they had an exhaust system for the 2006. (I specifically quoted PN 140045) A member of their sales staff replied they did not have any at this time.

I just checked their web site again and they still show only headers available for the 2006.

To my knowledge, the 05's and 06's should fit the same.
I seriously doubt you would have a problem with the fitment.

I have the Borla system on my 05.

you shouldn't have any issues at all. The fitment should be exactly the same.

Assuming fit could get expensive. One way to find out is to look at the part number on the OEM 2005 and 2006. A good Nissan parts dude will be able to tell from the numbers.

Here's an example. 2005 and 2006 front ends are the same right? Nope, the bra part number is different and the 05 will not fit an 06 because I tried.

I'm probably going to get a Borla, unless I can find something better.

Can anyone tell me what Borla's sound like? Here's what I'm looking for as far as sounds go:

1. Something smooth, rich, and sexy. I LOVE the stock sound of the Z without anything, so it would be amazing if the Exhaust would sound like my stock Z, just louder and with more aggression.

2. Something that DOES NOT scream "look at me, I sound like a riced-out misquito!!!"

3. Something that DOES NOT scream "look at me, I sound like a muscle-car wannabe." My Z is not my friends 05 GT, and it should not be making that kind of sounds.

Thanks for your help, the only reason I'm asking is because I can get super good deals through friends, like the Borla true-dual catback for $800 or less.

Thanks everyone.

Regards,

Gunmetal

Supposedly Fast Intentions(?) has their own true dual exhaust system specifically for Z/G that also yielded tons of power. However, there hasn't been an independent dyno to back that up yet.

I'd just like to thank everybody for the help on here. I too really didn't know much about exhaust systems. To the pros on these forums that always say do a search...we do a lot of searches and find you guys in all the threads saying to do a search. Just want to let everyone know thanks for the help and you've helped a lot more than just pikapp168.

Here is a sound clip of it:

Is that a sound clip of tire noise on a dyno? That's all I can hear. I don't think this will help your selling efforts much.

I didn't really read the thread, but I just installed a JIC y-pipe and Fujitsubo Legalis-R stainless system and I am really pleased with the sound and improved throttle response. I have noticed that when the car first starts up it sounds almost identical to the factory system. Once it heats up a bit the tone gets much deeper in the lower RPMs, but not overly loud. Definitely louder than stock in my opinion, but not obnoxious. Once you get above 3500 RPM or so, it sounds like stock but much fuller and a bit louder/deeper. No more hollow-sounding garble garble garble. This setup, in my opinion, makes the car sound how it should sound. In a month or two (when the temperatures start to decrease a bit) I hope to put some sort of aftermarket air intake on, and then we'll see how it sounds : )

Oh so anyway, I recommend the Fujitsubo Legalis-R with some sort of compatible Y-pipe. That's my recommendation.
