Default 287hp lower plenum on rev up

If I was to do a swap from my rev up lower plenum to a 287hp plenum, what would happen? Has anyone tried this? I know MD has the Mrev+/Mrev2 (machined lower plenum) but what if it wasn't machined? Would there be any gains/loss?

What does motordyne do with the 287 hp lower plenums that are returned? Think about it.

yes...

it gains all the low end torque that the "MREV" modification adds... But, if you just do the lower plenum, then you loose some in the top end...

thats where the spacers / upper plenums come in... they bring back some of the top end loss...

So it would be beneficial to get a 287hp lower plenum and then a 5/16 spacer? (I have an 06)

Hi Guys,

There are actually many dyno plots of the 287 collector with a 5/16" spacer. This is what the original MREV was. A couple dyno plots of them are still posted on the MD website.

MREV then evolved to MREV+ and then some time later to MREV2.

On the rev-up, how much more benefit is there adding MREV2 with 5/16 spacer in comparison to a 287 plenum (original MREV?) with a 5/16 spacer?

Definitly more top end.

In fact, the loss of top end was the motive in looking for ways to get a little more top end juice out of the lower collector.

It led to the MREV+. The changes made to the lower colletor were later expanded upon even further to create the MREV2.

No, not yet.
I've been very busy working on several other new types of mods. I'll put the spacer in for the next track event though.

Making and testing new mods sure is a lot of slow and time consumig fun!

Swapping in the 287 lower plenum was the original MREV mod.

old thread but was similar to another thread I had started earlier.

if anyne is still reading this could you link me to these dyno plots w/ 287 collector + 5/16" spacer?

also a comparison one with 287 collectors vs. MREV+ is the key one I'm in search of (on revup motor of course w/ use of a 5/16" spacer is good too)

Great question!

I have both the MREV2 (iso-thermal) and the 5/16 spacer for my '03, and I'm wondering if I should just install one or the other until I had the exhaust finished and was ready for a tune, or if it was fine to go with both for now and tune in about 3 months.
