Default Motordyne MREV 2 and 5/16" Iso Thermal plenum spacer

I'm no mechanic but how hard is it to install yourself. Any one have DIY pics and instruction. And do you need to reset you ECU.

I'd estimate 1½ hours if you're very careful (which you should be when doing this kind of stuff the first time).

You don't have to reset the ECU but it won't hurt if you do.

Wait, on a rev-up, will both fit (used together)?

I'm actually looking into this too, what kind of tools and equipment are needed? And is there a good chance that I can mess up my engine big time? lol

All you need is basic tools and it's highly recommended that you get a torque wrench. I believe the install manual that Gary linked to has a list of tools required.

About the only way you could harm your engine is to drop a bolt down into the block through the manifold - then start the engine.

The install is extremely easy. GMZ and I did it on both of our Z's and it took us no more than an hour. I know it looks like a daunting task but once you start with that one screw, you zone out till its done!! Let us know how it goes....later

I heard there are problems putting the engine cover back on. You can do it but you need some fine adjustments, or the hood will hit.

Is this true>?

No problems with the engine cover that i know of. The only problem that i can think of is the strut bar but you should get the spacers with the kit. You have to make sure the strut is tightened back to stock form....

I am sorry. I meant the strut bar. I heard the engine cover would not fit with the strut bar unless you got a spacer. BUt then the spacer would cause the hood to not close right.

Clearance of the engine cover and strut bar are not a problem with the 5/16" spacer. It starts to be a problem when you get to 1/2" then you need to raise the strut bar with the supplied spacer-washers.

I see. If I buy a spacer, I'' make sure it is 5/16.

Thanks

Yeah get the 5/16. The 1/2 only gives you like 1.5 more hp. However, the strut bar w/ the 5/16 is still a tight fit. Make sure that you don't over torque the bolts. I think they are in in/lbs. not ft/lbs. other than that the install is cake.

I just installed my mrev2, and I would say the hardest part torqueing to the correct spec. Well, it was the scariest part for me.... first I rented a torque wrench that was kind of busted I think, ended up snapping a bolt.

After I got another bolt from Nissan, I picked up a torque wrench from Sears (craftsman).... wow, much much better and confidence in torqueing those bolts.

I would highly suggesting getting a torque wrench, I know its about $70, but it'll save you lots of headaches if/when you snap/strip a bolt.

I am installing my MREV 2 this weekend. I decided instead of having professionall install done, i would spend the install money on a torque wrench

Good for you! It's quite a simple install. Be completely familiar with the install instructions, torque specs and have a great install. Enjoy!
