Default Z with Pop-Charger...READ THIS....TIP

I know manual Zs have stall problem with pop charger at high speed so on the way to work, i did a test.
I WOT my car in 5th gear over 90 mph then I coasted it (put in neutral), rpm dropped and engine stalled. Damn it...I guess that's the way it is with Z maf.

Here's the tip: when my engine stalled, I quickly stepped on the clutch, shifted to 6 th gear, released clutch....engine restarted. PLEASE REMEMBER TO DO SO and you should not coast ur Z over 90+ mph in the first place.

I've heard people said that this problem may probably be solved by ECU by itself after a while.
Or have dealer do IDLE LEAN BASE Control.

Yeah you can start any Manuel car that way. My dad and I lived on a hill, and he did not drive his Z32 much, so the battery would die. He would put it in 2nd with the key in the on position, and I would push him so he could roll down the hill. Not sure how good it is for the car, but it works.

Also, at high speeds I have put the car in neutral, and not had a problem with stalling with my pop charger (guess im lucky).

I used to do that with my wife/sisters' F-150 down in Buttephuk, Alabama.

dont pull over. You have to practice this. As soon as ur car is stalled, put in 5th or 6th gear and let the clutch out.

I actually tried this again later, it almost stalled...rpm went to like 200rpm then went back up.

If u slowly accelerate over 90+ mph, it should not be a problem..mine is fine.
But if you tried to WOT from 60 mph to 90+, put gear in neutral right away(dont step on the clutch), watch ur rpm metter, it goes really low or stalls, this is normal with Z

So let me get this strait. I can go WOT throught 4th, shift into 5th, and keep on it and shift into 6th til I hit 14x or whatever, and as long as I don't put it in neutral I should be okay, right? Curious because I am thinking about getting a PopCharger.

Mine has stalled many times due to the popcharger and the MAF. I just don't put it into neutral anymore when slowing down until coming to a complete stop.

now that's bad.

I just installed pop charger few days ago. I guess ECU takes sometimes to adjust. Also this morning, I was going down hill and the road is curving too. It could be too much air was going into the intake and maf does not like it. I tried it again and it didn't happen

I've heard that if you disconnect the battery before you install the PC, it makes a difference, as the ECU adjusts quicker?

Also, do you have an answer for my first post (3 posts up)?

i did disconnect ECU. It just MAF on Z is still sensitive. Too much air it got confused so it sends signal to ECU to shut down the engine

Okay cool. So assuming this scenario:

I can go WOT throught 4th, shift into 5th, and keep on it and shift into 6th til I hit 14x or whatever, and as long as I don't put it in neutral I should be okay, right? Curious because I am thinking about getting a PopCharger.

, would it still stall, or is it ONLY if I put it in neutral after heavy throttle at 90+?

This reminds me of the doctor joke:

Patient: Doc my arm hurts when I go like this.

Doc: Then don't do that.

Why would anyone put the car in neutral when the car is in motion?

it differs from car to car. your Z should be able to go above 90 w/o changing gear. try WOT...let us know

why not, let's say you accerate right before you exit, i usually put it in neutral entering the exit.

Lol. I am fully aware of this. I am just trying to clarify that if it does do it, does it ONLY do it when put in neutral after 90, OR, does it do it say, when you shift and are off the gas for a second at higher speeds?

Sorry for all the Q's, but I seriously considering the PC within the next month.

Wow, you posted how to pop your clutch? I hope this was not a new technique you just learned.
