Default Test Pipes on stock exhaust

Hey guys, hows it going? I was wondering if anyone is running test pipes on the stock exhuast system and how it sounds. I dont want a very loud ricey tone, but I love the stock sound of the exhaust, but i want to make it louder. I heard this setup on a G35, and I know it may be a little different. Will this throw any codes also? I have read that it has for some people. Thanks a lot!!

if you got an 03 you are free from codes. check out the exhaust forum for more answers.

If the test pipes have the flange for the oxygen sensor then it wont throw codes. It should be fine. Sound will be a little deeper, but not that much louder on a stock catback

Its noticeably louder than stock under normal driving conditions but if you baby it enough its the same as stock. WOT though, thats a different story. I have non-res test pipes btw.

I have the APS 2.5" test pipes w/ the CEL fix. I love the note it has now. I didn't have any problems throwing a CEL code. Its now much louder than the stock note. I say go for it.

I ran test pipes with the stock exhaust for a while. It got much louder. My 03 didn't throw any codes. It did sound extremely raspy though. You could probably have a resonator welded inline though (that's what I did but I added 3" free flowing mufflers on the back also which made it louder) and it will take out the rasp. I love my Vibrant resonator and would recommend it.

From the inside it is VERY raspy... On the outside, it sounds awesome and isn't as raspy. There is another member here who I took for a ride after the install and he didn't like the sound at all from the inside. I dropped him back off to his car and went WOT... the next time I talked to him he was saying how good it sounded from the outside and couldn't believe that it sounds that different from the inside.

I disagree with all this "raspy" talk. While there is a bit of a rasp its not as bad as everyone is speaking of. Maybe my other mods make a difference but not that much if any. My best sugesstion is to go to your region forums and ask someone local if they are running just APS TP and ask to meet up to hear it yourself. Best of luck!!!
