So, I've had my HKS exhaust on for a few weeks now. Love it. Except for one thing.
There seems to be a wierd sound.. I can't describe it.. kind of a mix between rasp and drone. I don't mean both, I mean a mix. Is this making sense?
Anyway, I can only really hear it when I'm accelerating next to a wall, and the sound is bouncing off. I noticed also that when I stand behind the car and someone revs it for me, it sounds.. good but sort of ricey. Sort of.
I can't believe I'm saying this about the HKS, but ya.
The thing about driving by walls, is that just a normal thing that occurs when exhaust sound bounces off a wall?

my guess is that is how it's supposed to sound
it sounds pretty good, but maybe a little buzzy from the outside and i think that's what you are describing. since you can only hear the "buzz"' under load...the easiest way to hear it is next to a wall where the sound bounces off well

Yea, its that buzzing thing that I'm talking about. Its okay, everyone else seems to like it. Was revving with my friend at a traffic light and some guy in a tiny little ancient camry pulls up next to me revving, giggling like a little boy, telling me to rev again. :-P

Serious now, have you compared it to anyone else's HKS? A guy on this forum mention to me that the 2nd generation/shipment wasnt the same as the 1st (2nd gen shipped in sept 2005, I think) . The welds and mounts were different and didnt look as sturddy as before resulting in a different sound and maybe a compromise in performance. I havent looked into this myself, so it may not even be true, but that is what he told me to look out for.
Go to a few meets and you're bound to find someone with a similar or the same setup.
Good Luck!
