Hey guys sorry, i am a little too freaked out to search, but I just installed the STRUP test pipes and I am hearing a horrible rattle on the decel (@ about 2500 rpm) after reving the engine a few times after install. I thought maybe it could be a leak, but I can't find anything... Any Ideas??? PLEASE HELP like you always have...thanks

We can feel it in the car... My buddy said that he felt it in the passenger seat. Could a leak cause a noise like this? The sound is almost like there is something physically in the pipes...which is impossible

thanks for the help

I had a rattle shortly after installing my STILLEN exhaust. It rattled whenever I let go of the throttle and it hit 2k-2.5k rpms. Anything under that or above that and the rattle was not happening.

Long story short, we found out that one of the bolts had come a little bit loose. We just tightened it and the rattle went away.

Try making sure that all the bolts are on correctly and tightly. If that's not it... then I can't help you :-(.

Does it sound something like a rattle snake....I was under the impression that all test pipes made this sound around 2500rpm. My car does anyways.

Well...just as an update to not leave you guys hangin'... I re-tightend EVERY bolt associated w/ the TP's and the only other thing that I changed was I got rid of my non-fouler set-up. The sound seemed to get better but it was definitley still there.

So long story short I took it out for a test run to see if anything got worse and my buddy brought his modded 06 WRX and I couldn't help but to do a couple runs with him... MAN... I think these are the greatest gains I've seen yet in the few mods that I've done. Let's just say it was nasty. After seeing the performance gains, the sound doesn't seem to be an issue at all...

But thanks for all your help... I hope that one day when I am confident of my knowledge of the Z that I can help others in the future.

peace

hey man i think i know what your problem is, When i installed my test pipes i had the same rattle as you and it was very noticable/loud. I found out that the test pipe was rattling against the heat shield. Hope that helps u out

hey - didn't get a chance to chime in in time, but it sounds like you got this resolved. it's true that test pipes - rasp. There are varrying degrees of rasp that different brands of TP's make. We think the Strup pipes are on the "less rasp" side of the spectrum compared to others.

There are some close tolerances under there, so it is possible that they could have been rubbing against the heat shield. I don't know if the anti-foulers would have caused such a noise, but hopefully you've got it taken care of now.

They are a great bang for the buck mod! Glad to hear your enjoying them. We still have a sale going on and free shipping for others interested. Thanks and enjoy!
