Question Stillen Exhaust?

I was wondering if anyone has had or knows how well this exhaust does on a 350. It claims to give you aobut a 16 hp gain but that seems alot for an exhaust system to give you. And if it was too loud.

That number seems real high considering our is good for 10RWH and is less restrictive then stillen. check it out @ www.fastintentions.com

Also check out the sale we are having right now...Tony

The Stillen system will put out about 8 on average - Drone you to headache hell and be louder than small jet going to Vegas with 100 passengers in it.

In other words - less HP than the claim, lots of drone and REALLY loud.

When we dyno'd, the Stillen was probably around the middle of the pack in loudness. It really doesn't drone at all, especially at freeway rpm's. It does get loud with high flow cats though, a bit raspy at wot. But nothing close to like an invidia. Power wise, they seem to do better than most because of their X pipe, most true duals lose a little torque as they seem to be made for FI. The stillens seem to keep some more of their lower end torque. If you're staying NA, it's not a bad exhaust, a bit heavy though since it's all stainless.

ok, so now your bashing on Stillen instead of Labree? Proving once again you are a class act.

I don't think Rick is bashing Stillen. I think he is speaking from his own experience. To add one thing, in our Group Buy I pulled two Stillen exhaust systems for ours and one customer had me toss it in the garbage. Then there was the one I sent to San Jose, and the day after he installed ours, he won a Stillen in a car show. As soon as he got home he put an ad up to sell the Stillen. That right there speaks for itself...Tony

Well considering the design of the Stillen is nothing spectacular over the rest, and everyone else who makes honest claims are right around 10. Give or take 1-2 maybe at the most. Also to back my claim up about ours, look for yourself @ www.fastintentions.com there are dyno charts speak for themselves...Tony

Definitely wrong.

The stillen system, I also hear, nets about 16. That might be hopefull but I believe when people did some independent comparisons a while back it did net the most over like 6 or 7 other exhausts.

The stillen system is one of the QUIETEST exhausts there is for the Z. I have it and under acceleration it is nice a throaty and when not under acceleration it is barely louder than stock.

Zero Drone. I have had exhausts that drone in the past and the stillen does not. With its true dual design, dual resonators and mufflers it is very reasonable in terms of sound.

Being less restrictive does not always equal more power, especially on the 350z. You need a decent amount of back pressure, and the only reason the stillen makes such good numbers is because of its X pipe design.

It does weigh more than many of the after market exhausts but had a very high quality construction.

Definitely recommended for a sleeper exhaust system as it looks very similar to stock but with straight cut tips and polished mufflers. I am VERY happy with it.

Fast intentions has good salesmanship. Although I was thinking... If they really are that good, why do they have to flood the forums with posting advertisements...

Not at all - and thanks for putting up that link so people can see the real me....HONEST!!!

I've owned the Stillen and know many others who have as well. The number one complaint is it's volume and drone. Read more reviews of it and call the rest of the population bashers as well.

And while your at it - stop STALKING ME!!!

I pay to advertise, and call it what you want, but we spend time here trying to build a solid foundation, and good customer service for the years to come. We dont push it on anyone. All of our products are still new, so sometimes people havent heard about them. All I try to do is put the info. out there and you guys and girls as consumers make your owns determinations whether you like it or not...Tony

Definately wrong would be stretching it - but everyone has their own opinions and likes and dislikes in systems. Not every system is meant for everyone, which is why there are many to choose from.

Remember as well - I am a G35 driver - not a Z driver - experience there is different and the systems do perform differently as well. We all have to compare apples to apples - and also look at reviews as a whole. Most of these exhausts will change their tones once other mods are in place as well.

I also wanted to point out another thing - as a growing company - Fast Intentions is also developing new products for these cars at a great rate. Every few months in 2006 something new has come out from them.

It's not that they are flooding the boards with ads - its that they are bringing more products to market for you all to choose from, instead of the same old stuff from the past 3 years.

We should actually applaud the efforts of a new company willing to work for you and your best interests in the end. Remember - I don't work for Fast Intentions and am really happy to see new things come out pretty regularly that are different and better than what is and has been available.

Cutting edge is good in this case...Rick

ALSO - ZCARBANDIT!!!

Sorry for seemingly hijacking the thread - we've had to respond to some members - I hope some of your questions have been answered though.

Do some searching on the forum as well though. There are reviews and such about the Stillen from more than just the 3-4 people here.

Most complaints for drone are from G35 sedan owners that have the gen 1 stillen cat back. They redesigned it, now they have a gen 2 for it just because of the loudness. Maybe ask FI to send you a stillen as their customers seem to throw them away.

Oh you'd be suprised to read and do some research at the Coupe issues too...again, compare apples to apples...Sedan version is not at all the same design and the G or Z.

Oh okay... I assumed you were refering to the stillen exhaust for the Z, because if you say negative things about your experience you should just also remember to note it is with the G35, since like you said, they are different and this is a Z forum (primarily, though we are all in the nissan family)

And yes exhausts will change tone, but the thread starter asked about the exhaust and didnt ask what it was like with anything else or list any other modifications. So I stated what it is like on a stock Z. It was the first thing on my car and then a POP charger and now the stillen S/C and it still sounds great to me with no drone and only semi-loud under acceleration. IMO very conservative exhaust.
