Stillen Exhaust?
I was wondering if anyone has had or knows how well this exhaust does on a 350. It claims to give you aobut a 16 hp gain but that seems alot for an exhaust system to give you. And if it was too loud.

Also check out the sale we are having right now...Tony
The Stillen system will put out about 8 on average - Drone you to headache hell and be louder than small jet going to Vegas with 100 passengers in it.
In other words - less HP than the claim, lots of drone and REALLY loud.

When we dyno'd, the Stillen was probably around the middle of the pack in loudness. It really doesn't drone at all, especially at freeway rpm's. It does get loud with high flow cats though, a bit raspy at wot. But nothing close to like an invidia. Power wise, they seem to do better than most because of their X pipe, most true duals lose a little torque as they seem to be made for FI. The stillens seem to keep some more of their lower end torque. If you're staying NA, it's not a bad exhaust, a bit heavy though since it's all stainless.

I don't think Rick is bashing Stillen. I think he is speaking from his own experience. To add one thing, in our Group Buy I pulled two Stillen exhaust systems for ours and one customer had me toss it in the garbage. Then there was the one I sent to San Jose, and the day after he installed ours, he won a Stillen in a car show. As soon as he got home he put an ad up to sell the Stillen. That right there speaks for itself...Tony

The stillen system, I also hear, nets about 16. That might be hopefull but I believe when people did some independent comparisons a while back it did net the most over like 6 or 7 other exhausts.
The stillen system is one of the QUIETEST exhausts there is for the Z. I have it and under acceleration it is nice a throaty and when not under acceleration it is barely louder than stock.
Zero Drone. I have had exhausts that drone in the past and the stillen does not. With its true dual design, dual resonators and mufflers it is very reasonable in terms of sound.
Being less restrictive does not always equal more power, especially on the 350z. You need a decent amount of back pressure, and the only reason the stillen makes such good numbers is because of its X pipe design.
It does weigh more than many of the after market exhausts but had a very high quality construction.
Definitely recommended for a sleeper exhaust system as it looks very similar to stock but with straight cut tips and polished mufflers. I am VERY happy with it.

I've owned the Stillen and know many others who have as well. The number one complaint is it's volume and drone. Read more reviews of it and call the rest of the population bashers as well.
And while your at it - stop STALKING ME!!!

Remember as well - I am a G35 driver - not a Z driver - experience there is different and the systems do perform differently as well. We all have to compare apples to apples - and also look at reviews as a whole. Most of these exhausts will change their tones once other mods are in place as well.

It's not that they are flooding the boards with ads - its that they are bringing more products to market for you all to choose from, instead of the same old stuff from the past 3 years.
We should actually applaud the efforts of a new company willing to work for you and your best interests in the end. Remember - I don't work for Fast Intentions and am really happy to see new things come out pretty regularly that are different and better than what is and has been available.
Cutting edge is good in this case...Rick
ALSO - ZCARBANDIT!!!
Sorry for seemingly hijacking the thread - we've had to respond to some members - I hope some of your questions have been answered though.
Do some searching on the forum as well though. There are reviews and such about the Stillen from more than just the 3-4 people here.

Most complaints for drone are from G35 sedan owners that have the gen 1 stillen cat back. They redesigned it, now they have a gen 2 for it just because of the loudness. Maybe ask FI to send you a stillen as their customers seem to throw them away.

And yes exhausts will change tone, but the thread starter asked about the exhaust and didnt ask what it was like with anything else or list any other modifications. So I stated what it is like on a stock Z. It was the first thing on my car and then a POP charger and now the stillen S/C and it still sounds great to me with no drone and only semi-loud under acceleration. IMO very conservative exhaust.
