Default AAM dual 3" exhaust

Real quick, no B.S., somebody give me stats on the AAM dual 3" exhaust. Does it sound good? Is it loud? Does it sound deep? Does it make descent gains as far as exhausts go? And is it worth it?

Ive seen this exhaust on many cars and heard it in person. It sounds great. Its an excellent piece for those with FI looking to unleash good power. Obviously a 3" TD wouldnt be ideal for NA use I hope you know that. Ive only ever heard it on TT cars so of course its quieter because of the snails but it sounds great, has a nice deep tone, and isnt obnoxious.

Thanks for the info. I'm not F/I yet and don't know when I can get to that, so for right now, sticking that exhaust on my Z would be overkill.

Default AAM dual 3" exhaust

I was also lookin into the AAM TD 3" exhaust. However, I dont have FI right now but I will at some point in time.

I checked out the sound clips on alteredatmosphere.com and the 3" on a N/A 350Z sounds really nice.

Should I go ahead and get the 3" or stick to the 2.5"?

So let me know what you all think.

Buy and install a turbo kit first or buy it and keep it in the closet till you gotta turbo. The stock exhaust looks fine for now, If you want it louder get some e-bay test pipes for 80$ shipped.

Ditto. If I decided to put the exhaust on before going F/I, would I have any problems?

Any other issues besides partial deafness? I like to scare the dogs, cats & small children when I ride by, so the loudness doesn't bother me.

Check with AAM first before you plan on going up on a weekend. I am not sure they are open on most weekends. Call them 301.330.8835.

Does anyone on the board or know anyone that has the AAM 3" exhaust that isn't F/I??? I really like the exhaust and the way it looks, but as baptist stated, I don't want to loose torque. Eventually I will go F/I in another year or so (after I pay some bills) and I'd like some unbias evaluations of this exhaust.

You will lose low end TQ and likely some mid range. TD 3" isnt ideal for any NA setup, but if you are going FI Id get this sytem later on, you will not be dissapointed.

To really answer your Q though-will you damage the car by running a 3" TD NA? No.
Will you be slower than stock? Yes

I had it on my car for two months N/A and then I went FI. You are going to lose some torque. I had test pipes with them, and yes it was loud. I would recommend the APS 3", I think the quality is much better than these cheap $80 mufflers my AAM 3" has. Nevertheless it does it's job. Let me know I am willing to sell mine for $1100 thats a good savings, and they only have 4k on them.

Thanks for the info about that. Know any exhausts that look the same way, only a 2.5"? I like the style of the way it looks and I know the injen kind of looks the same way. Same with the HKS Dual. I searched and saw that the injen can be loud & deep, which is what I'm looking for. Not sure about the sound of the HKS.
