Default installing exhaust stupid question

sorry dont have much exp on installing exhaust.. i just got a used fuji it came with a metal ring and a gasket.

im guessing the metal ring is for the mid pipe to the "y pipe" does that connection need anything else? any other gaskets?

also the gasket i got looks like a 3 piece metal... but it looks like its about .25 inch short on each side.. so my guess it is a 2.5 inch.. is this what the fuji exhaust comes with it? would I be able to pick a 3 inch up from an auto shop and use that instead? i figure trucks have 3 inch exhuast so the auto shops should have some for that.

Lay out the exhaust as though it was being installed. Any metal to metal contact requires a gasket. Its not hard to tell if the gasket is a proper fit or not.

Concerning the metal ring, a photo would be helpful.

err.. sorry for tacking another question on, but i have a quick question that's kinda similar to that of the OP.

My exhaust is leaking between at the junction midpipe-ypipe. I have a 2bolt gasket there, am i supposed to use an o-ring? or does it not matter. btw, using a helix cat-back.

sorry to bring back old post.. foudn out that the O ring gasket from my TN downpipe to my midpipe is leaking.. i think its the gasket.. i can feel the air with my thumb at idle so i am assuming when driving it is a lot more air coming out of it.. anyways looking for a place to sale it.. i need 3 inch.. the one i have for the muffler to the b pipe the flang is fine. i reused an old one.

I know the Nismo kit has everything i need but thats 80 dollars for only needing one item.. anyways please send me some links... or some suggestions.. would a local shop have it?
