Default Don't know if I like my HKS...

Okay.. this might sound absurd.. seeing as HKS seems to be known on this forum as the sexiest and most amazing exhaust for the Z. But.. I don't know how much I like it.
I just hate how buzzy it can sound when there's a wall nearby on the freeway, etc. Not to mention rasp, and ever since I added Kinetix HFC's, rasp is even worse. Not saying it's that bad, just that I'm not loving it.

I'm wondering if Borla would be better for me. How is drone and rasp with Kinetix HFC's + Borla?
I just hear the Borla is supposed to sound muscley, while the HKS to me seems sort of.. asian. Not so much 'ricey' (not fart-cannon). But asian.
I'm kinda looking for a more meaty, rumbling sound.

The other thing that excites me is, if I were to get a used Borla, I could sell my HKS for.. I don't know, somewhere around $1100 probably, and I'll have a good amount of cash to spend on other mods. Maybe 3.9 final drive. :-P

I guess I should say that I want less of a Japanese-sounding exhaust. And yes, I know, the 350z is a Japanese car. And don't tell me I should have gotten a Mustang or something, I love the 350z. Just looking for an exhaust sound that's more of a muscle sound.

You want meaty & Deep low RPM rumble, with a nice sounding top end that screams like an F1 car? Get a Top Speed Pro-1 or buy my Veilside Titanium Exhaust I have for sale in the marketplace.

Putting a Borla (american made) into Z(japanese) is like putting HKS exhaust on a mustang.

Okay, but I've heard many times on here that Borla sounds very muscley. Is it a completely different sound than the HKS?

Look into the Fast Intentions exhaust. http://www.fastintentions.com/350z.htm

It makes your car sound like it is turbocharged. Very similar to a Z32.
No rasp!!! Very minimal drone, if any!!!
Sounds very deep and sexy.
I will stand by the claims I just made, check it out for yourself.
We are running a sale right now here on the boards.
If you have any questions, or want to purchase either PM me here or e-mail me @ fi@fastintentions.com ...Thanks, Tony

Sorry, but the Fast Intentions exhaust is A) too expensive and B) sound clips make it seem like its not a whole lot different sounding than the HKS.

The reason I was even considering the Borla switch is because of the fact that I'd end up with ~$500 to do more modding with.

Injen will fulfill your needs. Real deep, rumbly tone.

Well if it is too expensive for you, then I totally understand, but it sounds nothing like an H.K.S. Anyways, hope it works out for you...Tony

Fast Intentions sounds very much like stock, just deeper and more of a growl. Love this exhaust, just wish I got the bigger tips. Since you already have TPs, it'll sound even meaner. Everyone that has heard this exhaust in person has commented on how clean it sounds. No drone, no rasp, and not ricey.

You sound like the perfect candidate for the Greddy EVO2.

Just deep and airy while retaining the OEM note at high-revs.

Chasing some elusive sound can get very expensive.

Well then I guess my question is, does the Borla exhaust with HFC's sound muscle-ish? Or is it not so great? Rasp? Drone?

+1. Especially with your HFCs. Should be in your price range too.
