Default What can i use instead of "cats"???

hi guys!!!

Well I´m pretty much sick of my cats and also about the "high Flow cats", i´ve heard a lot about test pipes and stuff related but not really sure about the benefits and problems. One time I had the cats removed just straight pipe, wow i felt a big difference in the car, but for my surprise in the dyno it showed a lost of hp on high revs, because of the sensors in the exhaust. i need some advice about this, is there any way not to use cats without having this hp loss because of the sensors?, of course I´m talking about an "affordable" option, not a racing ECU of course, well guys any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance!!!

test pipes have good hp and tq gains but they are loud and it you have emmission and sniffer tests you will not pass, they also smell

most definately on teh crossover pipes. I think they make the biggest difference other than test pipes. I have them, and i totally support an X pipe.

Any change to the exhaust system will alter the torque and horsepower curves.

Its possible to give up some low end torque, and increase peak horsepower. Tweaking the ECU is possible for a tuner pro. This is why dyno time and an tuner will cost you $100/hour plus.

Most dyno tests I've seen on other cars show a minimal (2hp or so) difference between cats, high flow cats, and no cats.

Personally, the only way I'd ditch the cats is if for some reason I liked the sound of the exhaust and the smell associated with getting rid of cats.

But, I don't like the rasp/volume, and don't like the smell. My cats are in.

NA thrives on a little Back Pressure Where as FI likes that non restrictive mode---Exhaust/HP gains are a little tricky on NA

So your saying that NA test pipes would only give me like 2 or 3 hp?
