Default Nismo low end

Well I am ready to buy a full exhaust for the Z. It's down to either the Nismo or the Stillen single. I have noticed that the Nismo gives an average of about 6 HP, and the Stillen is about 11. Are these numbers mostly in the high end? I'm wondering which one will give more power in the low end. Does anyone know if the Nismo gives a little more in the low end, similar to the stock power curve?

both the NISMO and Stillen give nearly identical gains, as do all exhausts on this car.

not a significant power difference in terms of where its produced either

Generally the numbers are peak horsepower. I don't recall if the Sport Z magazine Exhaust Shoot Out included dyno charts.

why dont you just keep the stock exhaust if you're going single and add headers and hfc?...the sound is really sweet and you wont lose any power in the low end..just gains all over..my 2 cents

What if I want to just upgrade my y-pipe? It seems that all aftermarket y-pipes have a 3" outlet, but the stock mid pipe is 2.5". Is there a solution to this? Like say a 3" to 2.5" adapter or something?

Ok so there is an adapter...I just Googled it. If I were to go this rout, would it give my exhaust a raspy sound at all?

This shootout is so old as to be useless for comparing the Injen. The system tested in that shootout was the early angle tip with removable silencers (silencers removed). Later Injen went to a permanent silencer welded inside the back box and retained its 50mm piping. The new system with 60mm piping and H pipe is also vastly different.

The Stillen doenst sound near as good as the Nismo does. Go with Nismo for the sound only. Dont expect that much performance out of an ex. system. We have a Z, not an Evo...lol.

I posted a similar thread a while back and someone contributed some numbers from that exhaust shootout. They said that Borla was highest in hp but lowest in torque out of like five or six tested. Stillen however was right behind borla in hp and highest in torque. I'm just basing that off what was quoted to me. someone please correct me if I'm wrong. because I'm in the same situation as the OP right now.
