The Final Word on MREV2 + 5/16" Spacer on NON-Revup 287hp motor: Thumbs Up
In my previous MREV2 + 5/16" spacer thread, I mentioned that the MREV2 and spacer, while a good combo by themselves, should show even better gains with tuning.
I think I've proven that this is true.
I recently got my Emanage Ultimate tuned (results here: https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/224832-e-manage-ultimate-tuned-pics-and-dynos-inside.html)
Adding high flow cats and a popcharger on top of the MREV2 and 5/16" spacer, did not seem to add any significant horsepower anywhere on the dyno. (maybe 3-4 hp at most)
However, with tuning, these mods are pretty damn sweet.
Here are the dynos and datalog before and after tuning. For more info see the thread linked above.

Great results... Thanks for posting.
Interesting how it looks like the tune actually retarded timing over stock until 5k rpms when it became advanced.. Wouldn't have thought that but then again there was a pretty dramatic adjustment of AFR... Am I reading this correctly?
Enjoy.
Now I'm convinced more than ever to go get my ride tuned.

All I know is, Shawn tried advancing timing certain places. Sometimes advancing timing loses power. So instead, he retarded timing and it made more power.
The rule of thumb is you want maximum cylinder pressure at 15 degrees after top dead center for max power. Depending on how many RPMs your engine is doing, you need different spark timings...sometimes more advanced, sometimes more retarded.
Also timing was added across the board 2 degrees using cipher, which made pretty good power. The EU is not the best tool for adjusting timing but he made pretty good power by tweaking timing a little bit.

Wow. Those are great numbers. I love your air/fuel ratio. Looks awesome. These two are my next mods. What do u think Wired, currently I am running the Rev-up lower plenum. Loss in tq. but gain in top end. Would these mods with a ECU reflash help out. How is your top end?

My top end feels good, but I've never driven a revup personally so I can't compare.
If you're into drag racing, top end with a rev-up and a reflash will get you better times and trap speed than a non-revup.
Road racing or street racing, the higher mid range torque of the NON-revup will make the car feel much stronger.
So the answer is, it depends on your goals. You rev-up guys are lucky, you have better options than non-revup

Unless Im missing something......how do you know how much of those gains are from the MREV2 and spacer versus the intake and HFC's?
A tune will bring out the potential of any of these breathing mods, but it is hard to tell where the gains are from.
I have a spacer already and was debating adding the MREV2 but.....i dont think its going to give that much more.
Opinions?

It's true that MREV2 + spacer starts to show the syndrome of "diminishing returns" as Tony has mentioned. If you have a stable tune with utec and you seem to be making pretty good WHP #'s, it's totally up to you whether you want to spend the extra cash on the mrev2. It may not make much power, but it should help a little bit.
I'd like to add that Tony has a moneyback guarantee on his products...

I've never seen what happens on a dyno by adding the revup lower plenum to a 287hp motor... but clearly it would shift the peak torque to a higher rpm range.

^ yes it will works well. Check motordyne's website, they have all the dyno result on their website.

who brought this bad boy back from death!?
Nonetheless, thanks to Wired's analysis on this.. since this question/ thought never stopped bugging me - if I should get a more dedicated tune from my current dyno-tuned reflash, with a complication that the reflash was done with only the MREV2 instead of MREV2 + spacer.

Thanks to Wired's analysis on this.. since this question/ thought never stopped bugging me - if I should reflash or get a dedicated piggyback for my current setup, since I had my reflash back then dyno-tuned without the spacer.
Nevertheless, MREV2 + Spacer FTW. Even I have a non-revup
