I've heard Borlas lose HP.

I noticed a very positive gain after I installed my Topspeed headers.

Doesn't Jersey still have a written part in the driving test? How in the world did you get a license?

please excuse some of the members here...they get easily annoyed at 'newbie' questions...the truth of it is half the people who tell you to search don't know the clear answer either...you are encouranged to search because people come to so many conclusions and opinions that it's better to research and form your own opinion.

from my understanding you won't lose power with headers. i know some turbo guys take their aftermarket headers out because of too much backpressure...the long tube headers fair better hp but they get rid of the cats...the shorty headers don't get you as much hp but you stay clean...

good luck on your purchase of the Z....pretty soon you'll be like the rest of us...wanting porsches...lol

All I can say is I have the nismo headers, CAI, and exhaust, and at a recent area dyno day I pulled 10HP LESS, yes LESS, than a stock Z. 246 vs 256. Not exactly the gains I was looking for

So a UTEC and a tune is next on my list to purchase to see if I can find those hiding ponies.

Unfortunately I do not have a dyno from when my car was stock, so I can't say for certain if I gained or lost over my stock engine, or if this guy was very lucky with the casting of his engine. BTW EVERYONE that day with mods pulled less than the guy with stock, various mods included pop chargers, plenum spacers, and MREVs.

I've asked before on here to know what other stock Z's have pulled on the dyno but I don't ever to get any feeback. So maybe very few folks do pulls with their stock setup. I sure wish I did before I mod'd. If there's one lesson I learned and would share is ALWAYS dyno your stock car before you mod, otherwise you don't know if you helped or hurt. Don't trust your butt dyno!!!

Motordyne's website shows pulls from a stock non-revup engine and it shows just shy of 255 max HP

http://www.motordyneengineering.com/...tAnalysis1.gif

So I'm definitely below that with a revup engine. But different dynos read differently from what I've heard. But mid 200's seems to be average for stock.

Anyway the one thing I can say without a doubt is that headers will change the sound of your car. It gives it a much deeper note which I like, but I didn't expect to drop $2k in labor and materials for sound!!!

from what I understand you can look for about 10 hp with headers

other than borla that is... DC, Strup, Alphawerks, are all the same pretty much. Crawfords are supposed to be the best but cost out the A$$
