I would bet you $100 that racing in a Z even from a roll from 40mph that VDC WILL make a difference
WHen you shift to 3rd with VDC on regular base model wheels/tires the power will get cut when you get slip....meanwhile the other Z will slip a little and catch and continue on with full power while your still waiting for the nanny to give it back
Even on my track wheels/tires I ALWAYS turn the VDC off if I am going to be doing runs....VDC feels like a brick wall and will kill straight line times if left on
Maybe its my shifting but I think its the VDC hurting his performance ....it wont have him beating 110+traping cars but it will be better than with it on for sure

Whether it's a Nissan bugaboo or not, or whether we just didn't read the Owner's Manual, I know VDC DOES affect the car going in a straight line. I always bog down when shifting briskly w/ VDC on, but will NEVER bog down and will turn the tires EVERY time with VDC off.
dude i came from the subaru world...previously owned a wrx...on the wrx...full exhaust (catback, downpipe, and up-pipe) will net you close to 20-30 more hp to the wheels.....im not even kidding...and probabaly even more on a sti...and maxing out the stock turbos...the dude was probably running close to 300 hp to the wheels...give or take..depending on his actual setup....i rain just a catback and downpipe with a off the shelf engine flash...no custom tune and i was running about 230whp on my wrx....it pulled real hard and I smoked a z...but highway runs sucked.....but now I love my z and would never go back
