Default exhaust question

I have a quick question

I did do a search to try and find if it was already asked, I'm sure it has been asked so I guess I just suck at searching.

Well, anyways. I was wondering if there is any power advantage for getting a single exhaust instead of a dual exhaust system. The reason I ask is I don't know that much about Z's, but I do know a little about s2000's (my current car). And with an s2000, if you get a single exhaust, the gains are significanly more then if you get a dual exhaust system. Sooo let me know which one is the best. Oh, and if it matters, im talking about a N/A Z... no F/I.

I was also wondering weather the best option would be dual or single, what is the ideal piping diameter for a N/A, bolt-on Z.

Thanks for any response and sorry again if this is a repost.

Welcome.

The single vs dual exhaust question is debated at least once each month. I could copy and paste my comments here, but that just promotes the same question being asked again and again.

IMO, yes single is better than dual on a 4cyl engine. But on a V6, there are 2 exhaust manifolds, so IMO in our case a dual would be best. A true dual that is, not one that combines and seperates again. Dual piping, not just dual tipped muffler.

+1 on TD exhaust and there are several to look into, but after I went N/A and looked at the $$ spent I could have almost paid for built engine with turbo setup. Do lots of research before you start. N/A is expensive on Z bolt ons and get you very little power.VQ35 engine is tweaked out from the factory bolt ons dont give you as much HP as other engines do. Good luck
