Default Upper Plenum

Wanna buy one that doesnt look like a kid made it in shop class.
Polished would be nice, what are a few nice looking AND performing ones?

I have little experience with engine mods, and will be putting in plenum spacers soon (unless otherwise advised). Should I buy my intake before or after the new upper plenum and spacers?

Thanks,
Kaz

If your doing the plenum, there is no need for the spacer, its one or the other.
I have the APS tall boy plenum (polished), looks great! Do all your intake mods together, dont forget the exhaust, once you help the engine breathe in more you need to help it breathe out better.
Good Luck

I have a polished Crawford plenum and like it.

It corrects the front cylinders flow imbalance and looks great... what's not to like. Here's a picture...

one downside to full upper plenumis that some don't retain the OE strut bar (you can buy an aftermarket one that fits) and sometimes the engine cover won't fit as well (...that doesn't hurt performance, but I think the OE engine cover looks good)

Check the Sport Z magazine Plenum vs Plenum Shoot-Out before buying.

Good point about the strut. I have a G, so I didn't think about the strut.

here's a pic of my flat black Crawford plenum, doesn't look as flashy as the polished version but is $200 less. Now that i look at it, i wish my throttlebody was black to make it look clean.

Did you review the Plenum vs Plenum Shoot-Out? What did you find?

looks nice - any close ups? Looks like it has some texture on it, how durable is it? any idea of what kind of coating they used - ceramic?

Here's a preliminary shot of mine...I'm redoing it right now, but I think I'm going to stay with the same coating:

Its actually a coating, its only on the top (visible side) of the plenum. The inside is left alone. It feels durable and it has a texture, but i'm not sure what it is.

Default Bumping An Old Thread For A Related Question

I ordered a stock/polished plenum this week. Saturday morning I'll be doing the swap with the original one. I've already downloaded the installation instructions. The instructions come with bolt tightening sequence as well as bolt torque specs(61 inch lbs.). The instructions also advise to remove the oil spill collar before dettaching the upper plenum.

What the instructions do not include is whether or not I'll need a new gasket or any type of gasket sealant goo, when installing the new plenum. Anyone care to shed some light?

Val

I didn't remove my oil-spill collar. You just have to make sure the rubber collar isn't stuck under the plenum before you tighten it down.

I used the same gasket and no goo.

Is a intake plenum or the Kinetix SSV Manifold better for a Non-turbo car? I am thinking about buying one of the two but I need to know what is better. I have a Borla TD and a K&N Intake.

If you use the search feature, you will find that the vast majority of people think the SSV sucks the big one.

Dude, if your not looking for bling and just want some added HP/TQ, then just search the classifieds for a used motordyne 5/16th spacer.
