Default Flipping headers upsidedown...

I need to know if anyone has or can try to fit an aftermarket header like a DC Sports upside down on each side of the VQ. I have one in a 240sx and would love to use some to save me some fabrication time. I have rearranged the studs and modified the flanges on the stock manifolds to work but my concern is will the aftermarket ones clear the engine. One of the runners on the collectors seems to be very close to hitting the outer edge of the front cover. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did someone flip you upside-down because you must have hit your head.

the post you made is very confusing....you said "Headers" but I think you mean something else....as you mentioned modding the manifolds.

What was the point of that ignorant remark? Hes asking a legit question. Some cars have symmetrical bolt patterns and u can flip a header the other way around if you have space constraints when you swap the engine into another car etc. Usually its done also as an easy way to mount a turbo if you have space constraints mounting it down low.

Headers and exhaust manifolds are one and the same. he modifed a factory header and managed to make it fit upside down. he was asking if anyone had any dc sport headers to see if upside down they would clear the side of the block/head of the engine.

No, i DO mean headers. A lot of mustang guys flip their manifolds over upsidedown to use them as turbo manifolds. They simply make an attachment from the manifolds to the turbos. This is what i plan on doing with mine... IF i can fit some nice DC sports headers upside down (runners coming out of the flange, turning upward and eventually pointing forward). Unfortunately, the stud pattern on the head for the flanges aren't perfectly symetrical so i had to rearrange the location of some exhaust manifold studs and oval out two of the holes in the factory flange to make them bolt on to the head. It's not a very difficult concept to grasp.

Just speculation, but I highly doubt it. Our engine bays have zero clearance.

Its not going in a 350Z, this is going in a 240SX, stop being pinheads and offer some constructive info for the question at hand. if you don't know then don't post.

If you've ever looked in the engine bay on a 350z you would realize this is impossible.

even if you got the headers in you would run into some major issues fitting the turbo's let alone all the pipping envolved.

At least in the 240sx you'd have more room:

I still don't understand WHY you'd want to flip exhaust manifolds on this car though, as you generally have more room for turbos the lower you go.

Have you consider just putting the right side on the left side and so on, so on? That way the headers flange faces the front of the car but you don't have to modify the header flange.

And yes 240sx have more room on front of the engine with this swap.

like flipping s-10 shorty headers on a 350 chevy to make turbo manifolds.
