Default passing inspections without cats????

i'm in ny....but to all..
how does everyone pass inspection without cats...???
the guy in ny said they don't do a sniffer test on newer cars now, so how would they know i don't have my cats on??
he even went so far to test me, and said to go ahead and try to put the cat delete pipes on, and come for the inspection next year??? it's all transmitted through the ny dmv, so how the hell would the dmv know i don't have cats???
anyone have any experiences???
thanks.

It's going to depend on teh mechanic who checks the car out. My friend who has no cats and a loud azz exhaust on his '06 Mustang GT just got his inspected. Mechanic said something like "Since it's an '06 I don't need check the underside, I'm sure it is fine." <- lucky I say!

that is lucky, but is it just a visual inspection by the mechanic then???
cause, if so i'll get resonated pipes, which look like high flow cats.

This is a regional question best answered by other members who live in the same state.

I inspect cars in NY... No mechanic unless hes a HUGE dick will look under the car for cats. 96+ cars dont get dynoed for emmisions, they just get an OBD check. Basically if you dont have a check engine light you will pass.

I had been running with OE gutted cats while I was in Cali...in Northern California they have a portable smog IR unit that can pick up on cars as you get onto the freeway...if you fail, they pull you over and put you on a dyno emissions test on the spot. but I moved to Seattle, and don't have to worry about that for a few years. (I'm selling my gutted Cats if you want them)
