Stillen CAI review
Well guys after thinking about what intake I wanted for a while. I went ahead and ordered the stillen one. I know I could have went with the pop, but I just wanted to try something different. First of all the cone is pretty big and the aluminum venturi ring and heat shield is a nice piece as well. It conceals the filter and wraps around it pretty well.
Installation was a snap. It took me about 45mins including the time to get the necesssary tools gathered and clean up. After connecting the M.A.S. and battery back up. I went ahead and cranked her up. Sounds like stock idling, can't say I was a little disappointed. After it warmed up I gave a couple of revs. Very nice whistle sound.
Off I go to the highway by my house and cruise. Throttle response increased and when cruising once again it sounds stock. But give a little bit of throttle and a whistle starts to sound and when given full throttle she comes alive all the way to 7 grand, feels like shes breathing a bit better on top.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase. I get the benfits of an open filter element without any heat soaking issues. IMHO I would do it again.
Sorry guys for no pics. It was a sort of a spur of the moment thing.

Sorry for taking so long on taking the pics. I have been busy at work and it was getting dark already. First three are of the heat shield, and last one is through the front hole to see somewhat of the filter.

It was about 198.00 w/free shipping. Stillen is offering it through the end of the month. The parts are of very nice quality. I'd figure it was this or the AAMintake , but decided to spend the extra $40 bucks for the stillen to get the heatshield.

I use the Stillen CAI as well but I put a Pop Charger in as the filter. I dont like how the K&N filter is closed off at the end of the Cone. The Pop is open (as everybody knows) at the end and allows air to flow ASAP in the filter. I think the Stillen kit is better then just the Pop Charger alone cause it offers the Venturi ring (like the Pop) but closes the system off from the hot air in engine bay (unlike Pop alone). Also it tones down the noise at normal speads and gives you that nice stock sound level until WOT (then the Pop takes over). Only draw back is you have to buy a popcharger extra and spend more money. But I sold the K&N filter after buying the Pop Charger filter and ended up not having to spend any extra cash. Just my .02 cents on the Stillen application.

i was considering buying the stillen cold air box as well, i already
have the popcharger and i love how it sounds and performs but
heat soak is an issue at times, did you notice a big difference
from using popcharger alone and then adding the stillen? or did you
just notice no loss in hp after running high temps for a while

I just installed the Stillen today, sounds awesome when you punch it! Very happy with the throttle response as well. Install was way easy. Looks great too!

There is actually a hole from the bottom of the airbox near the radiator... which may or may not suck in significant hot air. Either way its a good alternative to the pop charger.
Another point that is rarely mentioned is the filter itself is a genuine k&n filter. They are arguably some of the most popular and best flowing cones you can buy even with that capped end

Thinking about getting one, but i was wondering if it was possible for hydro lock to happen on this CAI. I know that i wanna get either Stillen, pop charger or Injen sp CAI. its just that im not sure what one to get.
