Ok well to keep it simple, im getting my tax return money soon, and it should be a good $450.00 or so. I was looking into headers for the Z. I was looking at the Megan Racing equal length shorty headers that are priced @ $359.95 on ( http://slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=5680& )
but i kept researching and found the STILLEN headers ( http://www.mynismo.com/products/?id=3266 ) that are priced higher but have proven HP gainsand they seem to be a good brand and name for the nissan and the Z but they are slightly more expensive than the Megan headers. Well im still in debate on what to get... Right now the Megan headers seem to be the best bang for the buck. Does anyone have these or any headers on their Z? and did you feel the HP/Torque increase? Any suggestions on the best bang for the buck headers?
Oh and another question about test pipes... Right now I have the nismo exhaust but it feels like my airflow is getting restricted, should I remove the cats and replace it with test pipes? What should I do or should I even remove the CAT? If so, how and what is the price range more or less im looking to spend?
thanks a bunch for the time and patience....
Right now im running with the NISMO Exhaust and CAI.
Oh and if this was posted in the wrong section I apologize.

if your goin w/ megan racing ****, just go on ebay and pick up a t pros header set. its megan racing under another name. build quality is questionable. if u plan for f/i, dont buy headers. if u wanna run n/a id suggest anotrher set. if u go cheap, ud regret it. my friend put megan headers on his tc, and they cracked. they had gobs of weld, it wasnt neatly stitch welded like it should. theres a reason other companies cost more, its bercause they cost more to make, because they r good quality.

Headers are a "you get what you pay for" type of deal, the more expensive they are, the better they seem to be, and you can expect more gains, cheap isn't always the best way to go as far as headers. I've heard bad things about megan headers, mainly they crack really easy.

Megan quality is questionable. I have heard people talk about welds cracking, but have never seen it personally. I have the Nismo headers, they can be found on ebay for about 650-700, and you can be rest assured the quality is fantastic. I have also installed a set of Strup headers and their quality is good. The Strup headers were also easier to0 install, the designer made sure that the tube placement allows you to tighten all the bolts comfortably, while a few of the studs are a pain on the Nismo.
I think in terms of bang for the buck mods, the test pipes are the best part of the exhaust to upgrade, but most TP's will also make your exhaust raspy.

I have Strup headers and love them. Everything fit right and welds looked good. I didn't think installing headers was too bad, but in the end, it'll take a good chunk of your day doing them...
from what I've read, it's either spend the extra $$ to get the crawford headers (quality equal length header), or get a quality non-equal lenght header like Strup. Either way, you should also highly consider getting the heaerds ceramic coated (Jet-hot does coating)...
