Default Crawford headers dyno, YMMV

As the title implies, this is only my experience on my car. I'm sure depending on what mods are on a given car, you'll get different results. This is on a 2003.5 G35 5AT coupe.

Just a pic before install.

The "baseline" dyno is from July 2005 at Church Automotive. As most of you know, it's a dynapack, the absolute numbers are higher than a dynojet.

I've seen stock non-revup 6MT 350z/g35s get about 255 on this dyno. Revup gets about 268-270, again ON THIS DYNO.

The mods from July 2005 are: popcharger, intake tube from Grubbs, ported throttle body, Crawford V5 plenum, a 1/4" spacer (yes, both, but it doesn't help more than just either a plenum OR spacer), japtrix B pipe, fuji Y-pipe, and the entire intake tract was port matched and polished from the venturi ring of the popcharger down to the intake on the heads.

The only mod since that time was the Crawford headers. I'm still running the stock ECU. It's the same dyno again. Obviously weather conditions are different, and I'm not running the exact same tank of gas (I can't make a full tank last 1.5 years). But I still ran 76 gas.

I don't have the data file yet, so I had to go off the printout. I like to plot averages vs. averages. I can tell you that the highest horsepower from July 2005 was 271.2@ 6422 RPM. Today it's 278.5@6416. But the mid range is an entirely different story. I'll let others form their own opinion about the changes.

Again, YMMV = your mileage may vary. I have no commercial interests with this.

I think its time for a tune, But as you stated theres alot of factors to compare dyno to dyno. Whats 76 gas? Is that race gas?

Not bad for an AT

you could use some tuning I'll bet.

Where are your air/fuel measurements?

Here is my dyno plot (also from Church's), mods are listed in my signature. Yes the EU was tuned by shawn church, timing advanced 2 degrees by cipher.

+1 for A/F's...that should tell more of the story.

-with untuned, I would expect something like this...give up the lower end and gain up top; I'd think that a tune woud help to shift the whole curve up! (I just had AAM's flash and it bumper the whole curve up around 8 HP)

**thanks for sharing the results!

I'm running very lean with everything now. With each subsequent mod, the car became leaner. Since I'm done with engine mods, a good tune is what's left. I'll have to save up for that.

so do you guys think a car with a tune would have an increase throughout the powerband with crawfords? or would it still lose power down low like this one? I'm thinking about headers but I want more power through the mid range, my top end feels fine.

Actually its impossible to tell unless he shows us Air/fuel measurements.

But if he is running as lean as I think he is, then there is plenty of power to be made in the midrange with these headers.

How much? don't ask, I don't know.

I"m not concerned about how much necessarily i just want to be sure i'm not loosing power through the midrange. cuz thats where i really want it.
