Is there some other size? Nismo piping is 76mm which is about 3". Stock is only 58mm or about 2 1/4".

I don't see why the OP thinks it's hurting his low end. The Sport Z Exhaust Shootout's dyno charts surely don't show that.

I can't say i felt any substantial butt dyno gains when i got my Nismo cat back, but i certainly didn't loose any power. Maybe there is some other mod that is causing you to feel liek you are loosing power.

Dyno's are an important tool for guaging overall performance but not necessarily for guaging real time driving performance.....

Dumping the stock y-pipe into that 3' cavern creates turmoil with the exhaust gas flow in everyday driving experiences...

On my automatic, for instance, depressing the accelerator to downshift created what I can only describe as a 'gulp'....tantamont to the turbo lag in my old 930.....

Stock exhaust remedied this lag though I will lose some top end, which was definitely increased once the backpressure was equalized in the Nismo.....

I'll take the trade off for the time being while I better aquaint myself of my available options......

Now I see, you didn't have the Nismo Y-pipe. Supposedly, most of the gains from the aftermarket exhausts come from the better Y-pipe than stock.

Thanks, that makes more sense....I'm new to the Z having just sold my 993 race car. I want to experiment with 'drifting'.....

well, don't experiement by drifting into a wall...

and I would think if you want to drift, low end torque would be the goal. rebuild, try again!

That's interesting about the stock vs. aftermarket y-pipe. It makes me wish I had installed just the midpipe+muffler first, then installed the aftermarket y-pipe later to see if there were any differences. Oh well, maybe on the next car!
